2017-08-19 Dinner – Was to windy for eating on the roof, but they do take you up for viewings. Food was very good. Crab cakes are so so. Service was friendly and prompt, but nobody introduced them self… puzzling fact amongst eateries these days. It would be considered pricey to most, but worth it as only a handful of restaurants serve this caliber of entrees. The only complaint would be that it is a loud atmosphere. They had a person singing and playing guitar, which is nice, but it’s nicer to not shout across a table while trying to enjoy a romantic night out. They also later added a band into the evening’s schedule. I would definitely go back, but it will be when the minstrel and band have the night off.
My wife and I decided to check out the 20ten patio on the 21st floor of their downtown building last Friday. Since Folk Fest was on there wasn’t much parking available so we decided to take advantage of their free valet service. I must admit it was pretty much seamless. We stopped the car in front, went in and gave the key to a driver who parked the car. When we were ready to leave, the wait wasn’t more than 2 minutes. Upon arrival we were escorted to the elevator, up to the 21st floor and onto our table. Here is my first negative comment. The table was wonky and the chairs uncomfortable. However, the view was great. My next negative comment is in reference to the menu. The waiter told us that it is specific to the patio which is only open in the summer. The menu consists of only winter type dishes…. roast lamb loin, coc au vin, braised short ribs and smoked chicken. The menu does not fit the ambiance. That being said, our meals were tasty and the service was fast. I just think they are missing the mark by not offering fresh, local, bright dishes. After our meals we decided to leave our table and sit near the center of the patio in an area with couches which was much more comfortable. We finished our wine and enjoyed the view while listening the the roaming guitar player. The last point I would like to make is that it cost $130 with tip for 2 people. For that kind of money, I would expect a stable table and comfortable chair. All in all, the idea is great, the menu needs a redo and the furniture should be replaced. Will I be back?…. maybe. I’m not sure if the view of Regina from an uncomfortable chair while eating too heavy food is worth $130.
