Everyone talks about the taste of the food. Well taste does not in any way make up for their service. I went in with my boyfriend for lunch at 12:05 to order. There were already several people in front of me who had not received there food. Working downtown, I get a 40 minute lunch break. I asked how long the wait was and was told it would be 10-15 minutes. While waiting people were receiving the wrong food, the kitchen staff was unorganized, and in this window only 2 people received their order. After 20 minutes of waiting I asked how long of a wait it would be and then they said we still 2 orders before ours. After 25 minutes of waiting, I asked for my money back. The only reason I gave them 2 stars was for this reason. I understand it was a lunch rush but this was ridiculous. I have eaten here before when it was slower. The food was good but by far not worth the wait.

More on Beaks (finally tried the fried chicken). This is intended to be a continuation of my previous review based on subsequent visits. The chef, I think that his name is Paul, is clearly creative. This is a unique strength of the place. Having a spicy syrup for the fried chicken is creative and interesting. Serving fried chicken tenders in a waffle sandwich with a savoury sauce is also interesting and creative. The fried chicken itself was only ok, however; I did not find it to be unusually good or anything like that. I found it to be pretty average. Their Belgian waffle dessert was somewhat disappointing. The whip cream was served using some kind of an air pump and felt almost like the kind you buy in the supermarket (by the time I finished my chicken dish, the whip cream had turned into a thick liquid–I guess all the air was gone). Come on, Chef, I know that you can do better than this. You make some amazing stuff (both here and when you were with the previous food truck)…In closing, the tastiest thing that I had from Beak’s was the avocado chicken sandwich that I described in my previous review (not always available).13 Jul, 2013Good stuff but unreliable availability. I finally got to try Beak’s. Got to the plaza around 1 pm and they had already run out of the fried chicken and the waffles. All that was left was the chicken salad with avocado sandwich and the poutine. I tried the sandwich. It was actually very good; one of the best sandwiches available in the plaza (perhaps second only to the amazing tacos at Salsa Fresca). So my preliminary verdict is that I like Beak’s but I am disappointed with the unreliability. They said that they run out of chicken around 11:45; that’s before the lunch rush. Also last week, they did not attend the plaza on Saturday when the farmer’s market was on. I think once they clear such planning problems they will rise to be a leading food truck in Regina. Hopefully, some day, I will try their fried chicken if they have any…
