The burger orders at my table arrived after everyone else in my group had already finished their food. My burger patty fell apart the moment I picked it up :/ The chunks of burger ranged anywhere from charcoal to medium well. I was starving by this point, so I picked up my fork and ate the non-charred parts of the patty. Also, my fries were tiny and overcooked. None of the food on my plate should have left the kitchen. It would have been disappointment all around if they didnt have a good beer selection. I did let the server know about my food, but she didnt seem too bothered. I would have a drink there again, but Ill eat somewhere else.
I wanted to rate this place higher because it is a clear improvement above the previous. But the food, I jut cannot say much good about. Drinks are good, service it typically good but every time I go there i keep making the same mistake in ordering food! The deep fried pickles are weirdly tough, the bretzel is a waste of money and seems like something I would make drunk coming home (a bun with a pice of meat and processed cheese melted on top) the macaroni tastes like the microwaveable stuff from Walmart (which isn’t bad it just costs 15 more dollars then he Walmart frozen dinner.) chicken tacos were ok but burnt tasting and the nachos are seriously underwhelming The pizza I had was good. I really need to just stick with having drinks there because the food is a constant let down! I always hope if I try someone else it will be better, and I want it to be better because I live nearby!
I had dinner and drinks on the deck last night with a group of friends. Overall the experience was rather good. I had the Chimichurri wings and a Caesar salad. The wings were ok but the sauce needed some heat. The salad was pretty much perfect. The upgraded tables and chairs over the old Freehouse was a much needed addition. However, everything seemed to be coated in dust. Given the wind we have had in Regina a the past few days, the staff should have been more diligently wiping things down. Regardless, the Social Hall is one of the best outdoor seating areas in the city. The food is ok, the drink menu complete and the service is steady. I am sure I will be back multiple times throughout the summer. FYI, I did learn last night that their plan to make in house Charcuterie has been dropped. I find this to be disappointing. It could have made the Social Hall a real destination for something different.
2017-01-18 Dinner: First time here since it changed over. Service was great, really like the layout. Beer options were great. Food was the only drawback. Some of our dishes looked unappealing, especially for the price. I had the veggie pizza and it was ok. It looked good! But the crust was so tough, i had it boxed up to put in my fridge so it would soggy up for the next day. I think they use pre-made shells as opposed to making their own dough…? At least that’s how it tasted. Would go back for drinks and atmosphere.
Too loud…so not very social at all. The music is loud to begin with, but during peak hours everyone yells over the music and eachother. It’s like a tidal wave of noise as soon as you walk in the doors. They are channeling a nightclub instead of a restaurant. The food was good (a tad expensive), the service was fine and the decor is awesome. I won’t go back even though it seems like it could be a fun/cool place, because I fear irreparable damage to my eardrums (those poor servers!).
Horrible service, waitress did not crack a smile, had to shout across the table so the people sitting across from me can hear me over loud music. Definitely will not be coming back.
We had a good experience at Cathedral Social Hall. The restaurant is beautiful inside with great, bright lighting. They have a solid beer selection and our server was quite attentive. We really enjoyed the bretzals because of the delicious dip selection. Also, my house-made chorizo hot dog was unique and very flavourful. The only flaw with Cathedral Social Hall is their prices. Food prices were a little steep, especially for some of the share plates. Overall, I would recommend checking Cathedral Social Hall out!
