I’ve eaten here twice. Once was takeout when they just opened, and most recently last night. First, this is not a cookie-cutter tikka masala curry place. It’s obviously a family run spot (evidenced by the young boy asleep in a booth), which I love. Also, the menu is built for people who know Pakistani and Northern Indian food – and that means Indian and Pakistani people. This isn’t dumbed-down Anglo-Indian food, and for a Euro-Canadian like me, bored with bland Western food, that’s exciting.Restaurants who serve Paya (slow stewed calf’s foot) are the real deal. That was my earlier take-out experience, and it was incredible. So intensely rich and delicious. If you haven’t had it, put away your qualms about fifth quarter meats and try it. So many of the world’s greatest dishes are the result of three ingredients – something humble, or even poor like cow hoof, time, and love. I’m not kidding; try it! It was like four years ago and I’m still raving about it.If you’re less adventurous, the buffet is still a good bet. That’s what I did last night, and it was great. Lots of really great authentic dishes, and a butter chicken thrown in so there’s a comfortable choice for those less familiar with Pakistani food. One of the best parts was that goat featured prominently – as a curry and a biryani. Again, if you haven’t tried it, goat is awesome. More mild and sweet than lamb, more flavourful than beef. And local, healthy and sustainable. Bonus: the buffet came with naan and tandoori chicken served at the table.Save room for dessert too. Best gulab jamun I’ve ever had. By far! And the masala chai was a rich, milky, cardamom loaded dream.Eat here.

We decided to order from the menu instead of the buffet, which is what most people were going for. The menu items were definitely cheaper than the buffet in our case. We ordered biryani and seekh kebabs. The rice they used for the biryani was thicker than most places and did not taste good. Very bland. The kebabs was not good either. Some parts had more spices than others. It was flavourless. I would also like to mention that the washroom was very dirty and the decor of the restaurant is very outdated. I have yet to find a good Indian/Pakistani restaurant in Regina. What a disappointment.
