Classy but comfortable decor. Food was great. I had the charcuterie plate and the daily homemade soup (in this case, a Morrocan spiced lamb and squash soup. The server was unsure what the items on the charcuterie plate were, but the guy a few seats down the bar turned out to be the head chef, and was more than happy to come over and explain it to me. Pork lomo, bresola, and a turkey terrine. The first two were good, but pretty standard stuff, although the diced beets on the side went great with the beef. The terrine though was awesome. Soft and flavourful, with a great balance of seasonings. Also, one of the rare times the quantity of bread served with charcuterie was spot on. Usually it’s not enough…The soup was a star though. Heavily spiced without being heavy handed. Chef Trevor and his cooks know spices, and very clearly used toasted and freshly ground cumin here, in perfect balance with the rich broth and the veg. Wow. I doubt this soup is always available, but if its reflective of the general quality of Capitol’s soups, I highly recommend.Full disclosure, the chef did send me an order of tuna on the house. That was a true foodie’s dish, blending a Japanese presentation with what struck me as northern Chinese flavours (star anise, corriander, sesame oil, and generous garlic and ginger in a sambal).Check this place out! Even if you don’t have a meal, the cocktails are great, and they serve Fentiman’s tonic!

First experience was pretty unwelcoming. My girlfriends an I came in, stood at the front for a while. Nobody came to seat us, so we seated ourselves. The server came over finally, didn’t greet us, an told us that the table we were at was possibly reserved. She left, didn’t come back, and then another serving came up to us an said the same thing. We told her we were okay to move an she looked less than pleased of having to check to see if there was another table open for us. We felt pretty unwelcome, so we got up and took our business else where.

A fun place to check out with friends. Some menu items are certainly better than the others – but overall The Capitol has a strong and unique (to Regina) menu, stellar drinks, and good service.

Amazing service, awesome drinks and delicious food. Loved the oysters and the peppercorn strawberries with ice cream. We actually ordered a second one.

We tried the pork belly as a appetizer. The pork was salty and fatty but I really worked well with the sweet maple syrup sauce and cornbread. It really melts in your mouth. The atmosphere was very loud, filled with the voices of the other patrons and the kitchen. You can literally hear the sizzling of the pots and pans coming from the open kitchen. This makes it an exciting place to be as the cooks are able to be seen. The decor is swanky and is a bit above casual when it comes to the dress code.

This may just be the best restaurant in Regina. Excellent, classy atmosphere, very good attentive service and delicious food that is well presented. Jazz entertainment available later in the evening. Some of the best dishes include: The Rosemary Ale Sticks, the duck crepes and the four mushroom toast. I sure hope that they keep up the excellent work (some restaurants in Regina start strong and then decline over time; I hope that The Capitol stays strong). It is my favourite place right bow and one of the few places in the city where I can order fresh raw oysters. Coctails are also quite good.

A very trendy cocktail bar, hipsters I think they are called these days, men with hair buns, women with tattoos Food is tapas, small portions, medium expensive, trying a little to hard to be trendy fusion, tomato cut into slices and reformed with the cheese and basil into a caprese tomatoBut tomato hard and crunchy with no flavour, mozzarella close cheese, page leaf stemmed basil, all looks no flavour doesn’t workHave a trendy cocktail and go out for dinner
