I was at the Hollows recently (for the umpteenth time) and as I was looking at the menu I suddenly realized what my favorite thing is about the place. IT DOESNT MATTER WHAT YOU ORDER IT WILL BE DELICIOUS! No need to stew about the decision, doesnt matter the particular ingredients even if they sound a bit weird. Just relax, pick anything and then savour the wonderfulness!
I havent been to this restaurant in a while so I hope they still have the pot de creme. Its one of my favourite desserts. I dont usually get desserts at restaurants because theyre usually too big and too sweet, but the pot de creme is just right. They had a pavlova once that was also very nice. Over the years Ive found the food to be top notch in the flavour department. The complex flavours and flavour combinations are something I always look forward to when I go there. I have noticed though that the portion sizes keep getting smaller. The beet salad when they first opened was pricey but worth it. Now, its like half the size, but its so tasty I still cant resist but feel resentful when the party in my mouth comes to an end so soon. I know their food is sourced locally but even still beets have not doubled in price since theyve opened so I just dont understand. Ive never had a soup there that I didnt like, and I often feel that a good soup at a restaurant is a good indication of whats to come. My favourite was a cauliflower pure with some sort of oil drizzle (too long ago, cant remember the flavour of the oil) and thinly sliced apples as a garnish. Ive really enjoyed any pasta dish Ive had there too. I went with friends probably a year ago to share one of the five course tasting menus and we left hungry so that was disappointing. I like the laid back decor and the old metallic wall paper. Im so glad they kept it. I also love all the plants, surprise surprise.
Four of us did the tasting menu and wine pairing. Truly a foodies dream from start to finish. Our favourite was the butternut squash ravioli. Best anyone ever had. Well done Hollows! Saskatoon is fortunate to have such a restaurant.
One of the best spots in Saskatoon. Charming space, lovely staff, incredible food. Brunch is perfection, and Wednesday beer + poutine night is a must-do. The Hollows patio is one of our favorite little slices of Saskatoon in the summertime.
Well I’ve been reading great reviews about this place before, and after visiting the farmers market in Saskatoon on a Saturday my sister convinced me to have brunch here. It is located on Avenue C south in the old Golden Dragon restaurant. It is a fairly down home vibe place which is busy, that’s when you know people enjoy it. Small menu but the food items looked really good. Tried the Rice and beans and it was fantabulous! Eggs were too funny for my taste but it was good, the rice was spiced beautifully and I could’ve eaten another two servings of that. The orange juice was FRESHLY SQUEEZED! I bought some farm fresh eggs on my way out I’m definitely coming back and first on my list to try is the Dutch apple pancake!
Amazing brunch!! Love the French toast and the classic breakfast. They have excellent coffee which is a brunch must for me. Supper is also great – my favourites are their nachos, kale Caesar salad and chickpeas (hummus with fried bread) appetizer. High quality food with a thoughtful blend of interesting ingredients.
This was the worst restaurant experience I have had in the last 30 years. Had it been a cheap greasy spoon I could have walked away thinking, ok lesson learned. This place reeked of 50 years of rancid cooking oil and grime. I completely lost my appetite as we sat down. Supposedly the food was good but I didn’t get that far.
