About

Caf Skt Gertrud is named after Saint Gertrud, Saint Gertrud lived between 625-659 at a convent in Nivelles, she was known for her compasion and sympathy for the poor, sick and travelling. In Odense in the middle of the 1400 a small chapel by "Fisketorvet" was built in honour of Saint Gertrud, the Chapel has long since been demolished, however the street where Caf Skt Gertrud lies is named after the patron saint. Caf Skt. Gertrud opened its doors for the first time in 1986. "Lets meet at Gertrud's" is a saying that is often heard often amongst the locals, from the early hours of the morning and until the late hours at night. In this lively atmosphere, you can enjoy beverages both hot and cold, which can be accompanied by brunch or lunch dishes from our Cafe menu, from an Organic Cappuccino together with freshly baked croissant, or a chilled glass of Chenin Blanc with a salade Nioise. In the evening you can enjoy a selection from our la carte menu or our menu of the month. Our Kitchen brigade strive to use local produce wherever possible and our service staff are here to assist you and give you advice with regards to your choice of wine to compliment your meal, or even a Marc de Bourgogne together with an espresso. The atmosphere in our Caf is vibrant, yet at the same time relaxed and good fun. On Friday's and Saturday's we have two resident DJ's that play old school soul and disco to more or less a packed house, here you can enjoy one of our trademark G & T's or a Dark n Stormy until the early hours of the morning.
