Juanita toured Mexico for 16 years and worked in the Caribbean islands for over 20 years developing exceptional proficiency with the culture, folklore and cooking styles from the Aztec & Mayan indians to modern Caribbean specialties. She prides herself on the fresh preparation of Mexican Caribbean dishes. For Americanized fare, Juanita collaborates with her "Gringo", Timo, a restaurateur with experience at trendy restaurants in Florida, Tennessee and Texas. There are only a few restaurants worth mentioning in the Puerto Plata area. Charros is one of the very best and the only authentic Mexican restaurant in the general area. Great service; Great food; American and Mexican owned. Don’t miss it!!

We lunched here twice. We ordered different options each time, and enjoyed it all. Our hostess/owner is originally from Mexico, so the food tasted authentically Mexican.
This is the third year I have been here. I keep coming back. Food is fantastic, servers are great, prices readonable and Tim and Juanita, daughter Unise are the owners. Great people. Le mangé est extraordinaire est les gens sont tellement gentils. Tres bon restauranr.
