Our House knowingly dates back to the year 1475 and was first mentioned as a Tavern in the same year. Taverns back then usually carried the names of the Landlords / Innkeepers as was tradition. With the Excitement and Success of Carl-Maria von Webers Opera "the Freischtz" in the 19th Century conquering the Opera scene - Students and Teachers alike reanacted many a scene in the later day Tavern, the then owner decided it was time to change the name and so it became the "Gasthaus zum Freischtz" We try and preserve the natural, warm and welcoming ambiente of an old Tavern/restaurant. We want to serve our Guests tradional, Bavarian home cooked meals with no preservatives. We buy local and of high quality because thats what our Guests deserve. My Team and I look forward to taking you on a trip into our wonderful history, terrific Beer and wonderful Food.
