About
Carls is situated right next to the Elbphilharmonie. It is the gastronomic offshoot of the Hotel Louis C. Jacob. The interior of the restaurant also has a harmonious feel. Its colourful appearance makes it look rather like a harbour office or a corner shop. You sit on red chairs or on red leather couches, and enjoy the view of Hamburg harbour. In fine weather, of course, you can also sit out and enjoy the terrace. The Brasserie can seat 120 people, the Bistro can seat 40 and the venue is therefore ideal for events. The Carls offers North German cuisine refined with French influences that the chef Michael Rinkert has introduced from his native Alsace.Details

We went to Carls Bistro for lunch after Christmas.Our table had a lovely view towards the waterfront, one could not stop watching the traffic of the various boats.The food was very good and the portions enormous. The service was adequate.
Our rooms were not ready at the Westin Hamburg so we had time for dinner until rooms get ready. It was just across the hotel. Friendly staff, all speak English with also English menu.Amazing view directly at the water. Price wise was fine!

Great wine bar, very good food, and ver very good service. Very recomended place, the staff is very good, a bit more expensive but worthy.
It’s located in the harbour so that’s a plus. The food was ok, some interesting tastes, but nothing out of the ordinary.
