We named our restaurant Salis who was the"black boatman" of chania(town of Crete);so they called him.Salis was one of the most famous and dear faces of Chania. Started very young and worked hard in a boat at the venetian port which at that time was a big commercial center. Extremely stong and great swimmer he had saved a lot of people from drowing.He was gentle, modest and had a big hart.The locals loved him and he inspired everyone's respect.Despite he was lower class poor,all his life through he was helping those who believed they were in greater need. He filled up bags with food and gave pocket money to the children to leave them anonymously out of the door of poor families.At some point of his life he won the lottery and donated all the money to poor families and orphans.
