Went to Dakshin for the first time yesterday. Ordered Chettinad Biryani, Chettinad Chicken Curry, Rotis and Veg Thaalis.Review as follows:Chettinad Biryani: Below AverageChettinad Chicken Curry : AverageRotis: AverageVeg Thaalis: Above AverageOverall Food: 3/5Ambience: 3.5/5Service: 1/5The wait staff is least concerned about service. They’re complacent and ignore customers despite repeated requests. Completely ruined the whole experience.
I was really disappointed with the food, it came with a wait of about 20 minutes.. and cold. The were temp staff.. and probably why they cleaned tables as well as served, without acceptable hygiene. The poories (part of the thali) were like leather. I was given a sweet which was probably purchased from the market, and my friend a bobbattu. We were told the bobbatlu were no longer available. The taste was def not a rating upward of 4.Due to crowds, we were hosted in another room, which wasn’t having adequate ambience. I wouldn’t go back.
It’s a hit and miss with this restaurant. Sometimes you really have good food and sometimes they shoot themselves in their foot with their (sometimes) bad table service. But if you’re looking for a place where you want to take your parents and this is not a bad choice.
