Oh how the name Grand Bay evokes a keen sense of nostalgia in me! This was the hotel I came to when I landed in Vizag a decade back and it was dare I say the best hotel around that time!Fast forward to the present and it seems to be simply surviving on the glimpses it offered in the past. Oceanic pavilion mainly caters to the clientele which opts for buffet and it’s a disaster when compared to it’s competition especially the relatively new entrants. To start of things, they get the starters on the table (both veg and non veg) and they seem to be the better part in the seemingly hurriedly spread out buffet. There are only a couple of non veg items along with a more generous spread in the vegetarian fare. The concern here is not the spread but the quality of it available as I feel that I can prepare better items myself and I’m no cook! Times have changed but nothing much seems to have changed in this place. On the contrary it might have gone downhill. I’m not sure if they have even changed the furniture or atleast the cover on them as everything seems to be pretty old (atleast a decade if i might say). Unless they show some spirit to turn things around they might just keep going down on the y axis. This place is on my no go list for now. If value for money is what you are looking for, then look elsewhere.
I guess grand bay has become a shadow of its own past. This is a place where we used to frequent with our family for the past 10 years.we visited today after a gap of 2 years. The food has been sub standard.None of the items were at their ambient temperatures. The rice was flaky. The starters were horrible and almost all but one starters is made of chicken. Not at all a value for money considering they charge 1000 rupees including taxes. The reception has been cold.Very forgettable experience and not of ITC standards you see in Kakatiya or Rajputana
Food was average and the service was very very poor at times they make you feel like you are eating here for free. Didn’t expect such poor service from a hotel of grandbay’s stature.
Tried lunch buffet, non veg dishes r good, veg dishes ok,best is sweet dishes, service is good but since resturant is not fully enclosed hence little humidity will be there
