We had masala dosa 2 pcs for breakfast. Though we found Rs 239 a bit high, the taste was good. We orderdered 2 veg thali for lunch. This is when i got really disappointed. The rotis were as hard as wood. The quantity was too much. The waiters were hopeless. No smile on their face and the service was slow.

I have been to Govind’s so many times. One of the best budget Veg restaurant in the paltan bazar are. At the budget rate one can get the tasty and hygienic food in the calm and hygienic environment. Govind’s has a large verity of veg food at reasonable price. As a vegetarian i always prefer Govind’s while i am in the paltan bazar area.I think 200₹ is sufficient to eat in the Govind’s because they cost 110₹ for the lunch or dinner.
I’ve been here several times and its always made me happy! Its located underground within the Hotel Mayur. Has a soothing atmosphere that goes wonderfully with the dimly-lit ambiance. The only downer is that they serve lunch only until 3 and certain items can only be ordered within set times. But otherwise, their food will make you keep coming back. The service during the lunch hours (from 1 – 2/2.30ish) is quite quick. But coming for a dinner here, they tend to take longer. The food reminds me a lot of ghar ka khaana. One of the few places to serve a good roti. I also love their Dal Fry and Paneer makkhanwala. I thought the Paneer would be sweet but it was superb – the balance of sweetness was just right. I would also recommend their Thali – the best in 100 bucks! They offer dal, two sabzis, raita and a kheer – along with rice, rotis and papad. I’ve even tried their Chinese and South Indian – was good enough. I love this place for its simplicity and the way you can just sit here and unwind. A place for all who live on a tight budget and for those craving good ol’ desi food. The Menu might be limited in its options, but it sure warms your heart (and fills your tummy, in a good way)!
Okay, so a few years back, when I visited Guwahati, I stayed in this hotel, called Mayur and thus, had food from this particular restaurant. Firstly, I can’t say anything about the ambience of the restaurant as we had ordered food in our rooms. The staff behaviour is also fine. But, what actually punches you below the belt is it’s disgusting food. The food served here is vegetarian. We ordered for veg fried rice and paneer chilli for the dinner. The fried rice was still edible, in a no option kind of way but the paneer chilli seemed like literally arrived from HELL (Yes! with the shouty capitals). It was cooked with mustard oil. I was literally shocked to see anything like that. In any case, next morning as we had to leave early, we ordered for the breakfast- the plain and simple puri-sabzi. It was again disgusting.BEWARE OF THIS PLACE! It looks all lit-up to fool you into stepping into the dead end.
