Me and my wife were in Guwahati and it was lunch time. Our hosts decided to take us to Food Villa located centrally in Guwahati city. Initially we had ordered for pizza, but one of our host also decided to try some South Indian food. The choice was limited and hence we decided High Street would be a good option. Unfortunately it wasn’t.We ordered onion paper dosa – the dosa itself was fine, but it didn’t taste like the authentic South Indian dosa that we are used to either in Mumbai or Bangalore. Moreover, the sambar tasted more like dal mixed with some tamarind pulp. But what really spoiled our mood was the chutneys that were served with the dosa. The chutneys were off-putting and poorly prepared. In conclusion; if authentic South Indian cuisine is on your mind, there are other options available around Guwahati, however if High Street were to improve their quality of South Indian food, they definitely would be a viable option in Food Villa.
Nice ambience. Decent food not great. Probably me being a delhite expecting delhi kind chaat. I would give it a 3.5 but the cutlery is bad and not clean. On the whole decent place .
As many other food outlets like quick pick, dominos, High street is a street food counter inside the food villa food court. Although it has a wide range of chats, and dosas. But the Taste is average. The cheese dosas, paneer dosas, the pav bhaji, aloo tikki chat are some good stuff out there. The service is very swift, and seating arrangements are also good, overall a nice ambience with good music in the background and surrounded by greenery on both the sides. So the place is a treat for the eyes during day time!
As part of the food court situated in the busiest part of the city, surrounded by colleges and all kind of offices, it can develop a lot, as it has a lot of potential. Evenings are the best part to drop in here and try some of the things it has to offer. The dosas are the best thing they have to offer, followed by pav bhaji. The rest of the chats are a disappointment. Have had the chance to have the tea they serve in earthen cups once, but after that, maybe I have gone a billion times and asked for it, only to get a negative response, with it not being available and I really couldn’t figure the time window they serve teas(Anyone?) The ambiance is pleasing, especially in the evenings and one can have a good time with friends and families.
Well, for starters, street food is supposed to be cheaper, but don’t let the price bring you down! They do manage to make up top-of-the-line roadside cuisines. But before you decide to eat here, patience and calmness need to be your two best friends. Just remember, great food takes time to be created and you’ll sail through just fine to enjoy the beautiful dishes they whip up.The Raj Kachori was exotic with loads of pomegranate, curd filled to the brim and just the right amount of sweetness and saltiness. The chats and Dahi Puchkas are also a definite must-have. I’ve always wanted to have the chai they give in little earthen cups, will try them out next time for sure. Perfect for these winter-y evenings. I love their pav bhaji and papri chaat too! They’re delectable. The plus is going there on a breezy evening. The place is crowded around weekends and holidays, but you wouldn’t mind heading here for a chilled time-out. Getting to place to sit to would be a a tough call, sometimes there’s almost-zero space to walk also! But that’s what happens when a city gets one of these open-air food places! For those who are looking for something more to eat, just head inside to the food court where they have Domino’s and other food joints all at one place. Again, you’ll have to watch like a hawk for empty seats on weekends. You might just end up meeting your friends or relatives here too, it’s good for everything – Dates, family outings, friendly get-togethers.
they have a rush always and there is only one person who caters to all the orders. the food tastes stale, like the raj kachori’s base tastes oily. there is no one to actually customise the chats as per your requirement. the paw bhaji is good. and even the papdi in papdi chat has a weird oily taste.the ambience is the major plus point of this place. the open air seating with tv screens and fountains.the service is very slow and place is always over crowded. One should not go there on weekends.
