Loved absolutely EVERYTHING here, the location of this place. You could actually visit the crafts museum while waiting to get in coz this place often has a waiting of 30 mins. Tried the famous palak Chaat, karaari bhindi with khoba roti and prawn curry. I must say the food was worth all the hype. It was delicious, healthy, basically it was pleasing to the eyes and appetising to the stomach. Ordered the bhapa doi cheesecake and filter coffee in the end. Will go back again and again just for the filter coffee. Slightly overpriced, but sometimes the experience of eating out matters more than the money itself.
Finally got to visit this place !On a Sunday afternoon , this place was jam packed and we had to wait for 40 mins ( they do not accept reservations – only first come , first serve ).We ordered and loved all of the following 1) Masala Chaas – thick creamy , low on salt2)Filter Coffee – Perfect and strong 3)Bajre ka Chilla stuffed with Paneer and Vegetable Bhurji was delicious4)Mini Rava idlis – 12 mini idlis served coconut chutney – hot and fluffy ,beautifully tempered5) Chicken Samosa – stuffed with chicken and cheese and served with tamarind and bell pepper chutney- absolutely delightful6)Sattu Paratha – Spicy sattu filled parathas served with white butter , coriander chutney, Baingan ka bhurta and potato mash The portion sizes are very generous and justifies the up market price tags. The place has a rustic ambience but is comfortable.Service is good .A must visit place for an altogether different culinary experience. sin-plypretty.com
It was a Sunday trip to the Crafts Museum and if you are already there, how can you say not visit Cafe Lota. The ambience is casual and warm. The staff friendly and not over bearing. The Masala tea so refreshing. We ordered mini rava idli, mushroom uttampam, Mahabaleshwar patty, Beetroot chops and Tandoori rava idli. Relished with Masal chai and filter coffee. As always the best came at the last, Bhapa doi Cheesecake is divine. Never ever miss it whenever you visit this place. The Apple jalebi with custard was great too. Next time it will be the turn of the non veg dishes and it will happen very soon. The wait for 45 minutes was total worth it.
