We went for our 3rd wedding anniversary! We had little food so can’t comment much – it wasn’t great but we’ll served and a quiet time, we liked the ambiance and the feel that the place has, however, when we entered I specifically told the manager to arrange for a dessert for my anniversary and he said it will be done! It was never done, the manager forgot about it and since it was a surprise I couldn’t point it out infront of my husband. It was such a let down. This request is usually entertained in the smallest of places and this was one of the best in South Delhi and the manager couldn’t care much inspite of specific instructions.

Amazing ambience. Decorated with candles everywhere. Perfect romantic evening one can ask for. With white curated background . Courteous staff. I went on a Monday and it was a live music performance which is a add on. Good food , music and wine that’s all one can ask for. Then this is the place. Also tried mezze platter non veg which had many non veg items and that can fill two person. Good welcome snacks too.

Food: 3/5 Very average. I took 1Pizza, 1Pasta and 1Mulled Wine. And everything was just average. nothing much to expect. Pasta and Pizza didnt had any cheese. And the taste was also just okay.Quantity: 4/5 Good. Worth: 2/5 Very costly as per the taste and quantity. They add loads of taxes too. For this food we paid 3000 which was very high according to me, since it was nothing extraordinaryAmbiance: 4/5 Good Only good part is ambiance, I went on 24th Dec Night, so it was nice atmosphere, good songs. People were chilling, very average decoration for Christmas, but outdoor sitting area is otherwise nice to chill out.

Olives is mostly about their ambience. Loves the white Walls n candle lit area. The outdoor seating arrangement is perfect for a winter sunny afternoon. The food was amazing. Ordered mezze platter n the quantity was amazing.

I moved out of India about two years ago, but I always had two restaurants on my wishlist. Indian Accent and Olive Bar & Kitchen. On this trip back, I decided to try both. A big thumbs up to Indian Accent, it lives up to all the hype and beyond. I can’t wait to go back there. Whereas, Olive was a big big disappointment. It’s a beautiful place for sure, but the food is a joke! I ordered the Morels and Walnut Milk, a vegetarian pizza with peppers etc., the mushroom and plantain gnocchi and the tiramisu. Except for the pizza, everything else was barely edible. The biggest disaster was the gnocchi. It was shaped like aloo tiki, and did not have that nice soft airy pillowy texture and taste that gnocchi should have. It’s a difficult dish to perfect, but from a place like Olive, you expect some effort, especially when you’re paying 1500 bucks for a dish. I was not at all pleased with the gnocchi and the chef came to speak with me to explain to me what a gnocchi is. Now I may not be a chef, but I’ve definitely traveled a lot around the world, including Italy, to know what gnocchi is. I complained regarding the texture, and the chef said in his defense that gnocchi essentially is aloo tikki. Now that’s troubling to think that the chef at a classy Italian restaurant thinks gnocchi is basically aloo tikki. This restaurant needs to do some serious thinking about what kind of food it’s trying to serve. The tiramisu was so bitter and full of coffee, there were so many coffee elements in the dessert with absolutely nothing to balance the strong taste! The dessert curators need to do some serious thinking about balance of taste. At the end of the day, Olive turned out to be a wannabe classy place and missed the mark by miles!

Sharing a short snippet of my meal today. Never got down to writing a proper review for Olive coz there are some places to which words don’t do justice. Like if we take the case of this restaurant, I have grown up seeing the evolution for the last so many years and am happy that it has raised the bar for itself every time. So, lunch this afternoon was no different. Loved everything from the “Duck Koobideh” to the fish and I can’t stop raving about the macaroons. Off the multiple visits, it is the first time I have had macaroons at Olive and I declare them as the best one that I have ever tried in India. Won’t start comparing them to Laduree but yeah they are right up there !! Had a fab afternoon over brilliant food, gintos and conversations.
