Great location. But the quality of food was not good. There was only thali available that costs just Rs 50/-. Even for that, there was no value for money.100% chance of improvement.
It’s such a pleasant surprise !! Have been going to this place since my teens, have seen many caterers changed. This time it has changed for the best. I had one of my best meals ever at this place.Be it Masala Dosa, Sysore dosa or simple idli-wada, each item was fresh, well prepared and tasty. Can go there any number of times. Been there for breakfast, however there dinner and lunch menu looks equally exciting, with the endless array of north indian, south indian, chinese and non-veg dishes.Great food, decently priced, clean, airy and open to all.It is in south avenue in one of the MP quarters, opposite to the Safal depot (near 3 Murti Bhawan)Must visit place.
During one of our discusssions, Shashank Kumar Nair mentioned about this little gem of a place in the power corridors of Delhi which happens to be a take-away for a lot of central ministers who live nearby. I was told that the menu will be minimal, service would be up to the mark and the food, homely. Each of these made complete sense when I walked in to M.P. Canteen yesterday with Bhanu and Alisha Mathur for dinner. Given that the place has just (re)opened, it was fairly empty. We ordered Chettinad Chicken, Shahi Paneer, Tawa Rotis and Aloo Masala Fry which was by the way, YUM! The Chettinad Chicken was midly spiced and meat perfectly cooked. But as you ate it, the spice grew on you and a box of tissues is something you could really use. The Shahi Paneer was fine and overall, it felt like a home-cooked meal, served hot.The servers reminded me of the ones from the Inspection Bungalows I’ve lived in at times – corteous, disciplined, anticipatory, in wait of the tip they deserve. The rasgullas served for dessert was a sham and I should avoid talking about it. Minus .5 there. If you are looking for a great meal in and around Rashtrapati Bhavan/ India Gate area, then this is the place for you. The portions being generous, a meal for 3 should not cost you more than Rs.600.I’ll come back here again for the Thali.
