Wow I should thank my friend for taking me to this amazing restaurant. Such a beautiful ambience inside sadan. We had been there for evening snaks specially to tryShrikand which is famous over here. It was my first experience and trust me it just blown my mind. I can visit this place all day to eat this desserts. And vade pav also was so too yummy to taste in Delhi. Which you cant find over Delhi for vadpav lovers. We could also see peacocks inside the sadan which is quite amazing if you visit with your family.P.S : Can visit this place only with permission from ministers or any government official.

Visited this place with a friend. The things worth noting are the portion size they serve is good enough for more than two people. And the food is a little on the spicier side. Which being a Rajasthani I enjoyed. The problem I had was the usual sarkari attitude of people running this place. The food was delicious undoubtedly however there would be no one to take order for 30-35 mins, you won’t get basic dishes like Pav bhaji after breakfast time and once you’re done ordering you’ll have to wait for 20 mins for something as simple as an extra naan.So if you’ve spare time, you must visit this place for the delicious food.

You need an ID to get in, one that is issued by the government and they let you in from back gate. Keep that in mind! Now to the ambience, looks like a sarkari canteen, not exactly a pretty place. Menu is expansive, and we didn’t have so much time to go over it. Ordered a thali as it seemed easy but turned out that there was nothing marathi about it. It was a simple buffet style speed of two ordinary dals and bhindi ka sabZi with rice and roti. They tasted like any canteen food. That’s when we realised we ordered the wrong thing. The sol kadi drink is not exactly for everyone. The jalebi looked and tasted bad. The shrikhand was yum though. Might come back again but will order ala carte for sure.

  • Bhaskar Tokas

Located near C.P and India gate. If you are a civilian you have to enter from the back side of KG marg. You need to have your ID card. This place is strick no no when their is a parliament session. Its closed for civilian during that time. The food is good , cheap. The staff is polite courteous. One of the best canteen in Delhi.

  • Deepakkumartokas

This canteen (Restaurant) in Maharashtra Sadan near India Gate is recently built building. Had a great experience of Maharashtrian food here. It is open all 7 days for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Ambiance, food and service was great. If you are not a Govt. Official then you have to enter from rear entry gate. Prices are moderate and quantity and quality is good.

270th reviewChakraborty Tip : Getting entry may be difficult if you aren’t a government employee or journalist, resident of Maharashtra currently in town or staying at the hostel in the premises, or don’t have prior permission.Entry is not allowed without government issued ID. Avoid going while parliament is in session, so that you don’t bump into a VVIP and cause a security meltdown.I landed here with other journalist colleagues, relatively late at night, fingers crossed for some dinner. Fate was kind.FOOD. is heavenly and ethnic to the point that it made me want to visit Maharashtra. We relied on the instincts of our Maratthi colleague and had the Verhadi Chicken, Seoji Mutton and Patori Rassa. I dont want to go into each of these but both the non veg dishes had an unique mild taste, which did not diminish the spicy undertone. On the other hand, most bengalis can identify the Patori, something we’ve all had at home. I loved it.Finally, the Bakhri was the first thing made of Jowar I had ever eaten and I’m not ashamed to say it. These rotis have a heavy duty appearance but are strangely light, with a sweet taste that can only complement whatever the side dish be.In the end, it would be a sacrilege if you dont sample a Sol Kadhi before leaving. This juice is good for digestion, comes in an attractive looking cute pink colour and has an explosion of taste. Seriously, I tasted 4 distinct flavors in a single mouthful.AMBIANCE. Is formal. Mostly babus discussing politics and postings, and chamchas of political leaders cutting deals.SERVICE. is quick and professional to a fault. This is a place for the political elite. Expect to be treated no less by your server.PRICES. are above average when you compare other state Bhavans. But considering what you’d dish out at any other place in Central Delhi, this may be a dealbreaker.
