I was just roaming around in CP because of some work and I got free a little earlier than I had to be so I decided to try something new and desi as all CP consists of is Cafes and restaurants. I knew this place from quite some time but couldn’t try this because of some or the other thing. I decided to go here and find this place plus I was really interested in the dishes and more the Mutton they had to sell. I also had seen their shop on television few days ago and this was the best chance to get their and try their famous Saag wala Mutton. I went to Palika, which indeed is whole another world in basement and I started to search the Gouri Shankar mutton wala or Peshawari Dhaba. While I was looking for this place, I had my nose buds smelling the aroma in the air and I got to the place, without my confusion I ordered the saag mutton which unfortunately wasn’t available. I orderd Mutton Masala which had khade masale in it and the mutton of course, I liked the mutton and the gravy but not loved it as I had something else in my mind to eat so I was a little disappointed but I’ll definitely try their famous dish and see what’s all the fuss about.
today I try saag meat awesome lajawab maja aa Gaya kha ke price bhi thk hai normal hai lekin swad full paisa wasool hai mutton peice aacha h
It is indeed the best mutton korma I’ve ever had. 5/5. A bit spicier than the original korma though. Negative points for the cramped space and bad leathery rotis.
This hidden shop in palika bazar serves chicken curry, mutton masala and saag meat. They serves saag meat only on sunday and Thursday. So we tried their chicken curry which is quite normal. Not too good not too bad. The way they serves is unhygienic like they gave rooti on newspaper.1. Taste:-7/102. Ambience:-6/103. Service:-7/104. Place:8/105. Value for money:-7/10Follow my food page on insta #food_ask_me
The full name of the place is Gauri Shankar Peshawari Dhaba. It is super difficult to locate as it’s underground along with the shops of palika bazaar, so it would be best to locate gate no 7 of Palika Bazaar and then find the address. That being said, i went to try their special Saag Mutton which is available only on thursdays and sundays, therefore, naturally there’s a lot of crowd there. You would be better ordering a takeaway. The place was a bit small, but the food was freaking awesome. One of the best dishes I’ve ever tasted and hands down the best mutton dish I’ve had in my life. It is served along with rotis that are super chewy and compliment the mutton really well. The whole ensemble is pretty fulfilling and satisfying.
This place serves one of the best saag meat in Delhi. Everything is made with desi ghee. Chicken curry is good but saag meat beats everything. It is in palika bazaar for those who don’t know.
A hidden gem – known for Saag Mutton only on Sundays, I went on a weekday and tried a well cooked, tangy Dhaniya Chicken. Served on newspapers was disappointing. Yet, food is worth trying atleast once!
