Very tasty chaat.
Chaat corner is located in Aurobindo market since a long time. I’ve been visiting this place since childhood. Love the Gol gappas here. The paani is delicious with just the right amount of spices. The bhel puri too is good. It can be customised according to your taste. The staff is very polite and does listen to you patiently. Served in a jiffy, you won’t have to wait for your turn. Must try
Was house hunting in the area with a cousin when hunger decided to strike and someone suggested that we should try the Chaat place at Aurobindo Market. It’s not really a shop but a cart in the gallery and there’s always a crowd there which I believe speaks volumes about their popularity. As does the fact that one of my aunts on knowing that I had been to Aurobindo Market almost instantaneously asked me if I had tried the Chaat corner there and if I hadn’t I should have! The menu boasts of a variety of chaats and gol gappas. And everything seems fairly priced if we take into account the location.Spoilt for choice, after staring at the menu for quite some time, we decided to try gol gappas, aloo tikki and papri chaat. The gol gappa pooris were crisp, and the paani flavoursome. The tikkis were crisp and tasty served with a more than generous drizzling of dahi, hari chutney and meethi chutney. And the papri chaat was good too. Will give some of the other items a try when I get the opportunity to visit next.
Aurobindo market has never been much of a foodies paradise, with options limited to a Wimpi outlet, a Chinese hawker van and some tasty Badam Milk. The only form of Indian food is in the form Chaat, which has been served by them for as long as I can remember. They serve the regular fare, comprising of Aloo Chaat, Papri Chaat, Sev Puri, Aloo Tikki and ofcourse Gol Gappe. Each Chaat bhandar has a distinct flavor in the Gol gappe ka paani, and this one has a predominant flavor of tamrind. The Pooris are crisp, and the masala tasty. The Aloo Chaat is crisp and tasty, and the Aloo Tikki crisp. The guys serve you patiently, and never refuse whichever combination of masala one might ask for. The cherry on the top is the fact that none of the items are over priced (despite the locatlity), and they keep the entire area spic and span.
