It is a fine Italian restaurant with a good variety of Italian dishes available. I had penne pesto pasta which was made in basil green sauce which was delicious. We also ordered penne blue cheese which was the normal white sauce pasta with full of cheese which also tasted really good. Although it took them around half an hour to serve the food but their service was good as they informed initially only that it will take a little bit of time. Just the place is in the middle of the forest area and a bit isolated but the rest it’s worth going there (particularly if you’re Italian food lover)
Tucked away in the village and overlooking the Udear Spring is a cocktail bar and BBQ restaurant called Ignia. They had a Spring Brunch for São João priced at Rs. 1250 and it was definitely something you wouldn’t want to miss. They will be having a similar brunch every Sunday! We tried the following:1) Drinks- Red and White Wine Sangria, Feni Cocktail and European Malayali2) Salads- Apple & Walnut, Chickpea and Feta, Chicken Pasta Salad3) Starters- Messy Wings, Cilantro Tossed Prawns, Raw Mango Chicken, Sweet and Spicy Potatoes, BBQ Chicken, Mediterranean Chicken4) Mains- Spaghetti Arrabbiata and Blue Cheese Pasta5) Desserts- Tender Coconut Souffle, Orange, Mojito and Chocolate Cupcake, Patoleo (Folle)The sangria is a classic cocktail that’s a blend of red/white wine with pieces of apple, plum, citrus fruits and litchi. We loved the fact that even with the fruits, the wine wasn’t overpowered.A fusion of traditional Goan Feni with a house made sweet and sour syrup and curry leaves. The Feni Cocktail is a perfect drink to get you started and aligned to the Goan vibes. The European Malayali was something we didn’t expect. The combination of blueberry crush with sweet and sour syrup, feni and curry leaves embraces you with an astounding flavour that’s quite unlike any cocktail we’ve tried before. A special by Glenn, without a doubt, we definitely recommend this drink. All the 3 salads were delicious, but the Chicken Pasta Salad was a stand out. It boasted of it’s rich Italian background with the tomato and herb dressing. The Apple & Walnut salad was simple and delicious with a mayo and herb dressing. The chickpea salad had a simple vinaigrette which was perfectly matched with the silky smooth feta. The well known chicken Spaghetti Arrabbiata done well. Nothing out of the ordinary but was definitely yum.The Blue Cheese pasta though tasty, we would’ve preferred a stronger flavour of blue cheese, although not everyone would. The pasta was cooked perfectly and the cheese sauce had a great consistency. The chicken wings were hands down the best we’ve had till date. These wings are deep fried and coated in the delicious and lip smacking sweet and spicy sauce. The pieces were big enough and had a good amount of flesh on them. Highly recommended! We absolutely loved each of these starters. Besides being succulent and perfectly cooked, they were packed with flavour, the potato included. The one kebab we absolutely loved was the Mediterranean chicken. That had to be the best one of the lot. Loaded with flavour and so so good. All the 3 cupcakes were light and fluffy. The tender coconut souffle needed more of the tender coconut flavour. Showcasing their Goan heritage, they also had Patoleo to offer which was filled sufficiently and was yum.
