Spice Goa is the right place for you if you long to have authentic Goan food. It is the perfect place to go with family and friends. The restaurant has spacious interiors and also houses a rooftop dining area. The Bar counter towards the exterior left (Shaucho Bar) is designed to look like an old tavern. Towards its left they have a specially designed room that is warmly lit and showcases traditional Goan cooking tools with seating for about 8-10 people. The entire place gives you a warm welcoming feeling. They have a wide choice of seafood and goan dishes. The fish is handpicked by the Owner Atul Shah also called as Fish Doctor. He knows his fish well. He willingly explained to us the different spices and preparations that go into the Goan cooking.I have listed the items that were presented to us from the Menu below. We began with Kholyatli Sungta, a heavenly age old preparation of prawns wrapped and fried in banana leaf. The distinct smell of the prawns and masala had my mouth watering. We then had the Batter Fry Squids that were crunchy and addictive as popcorn. The Prawns Peri Peri was a dish made from the popular piri piri chilli. The prawns were soaked in luscious red masala and were lipsmacking. The Lobster Butter Garlic was the best preparation you would like for savouring the lobster. The lobster meat was tender and juicy. We went on to having Mackeral Tikkle which is a flavourful coconut masala preparation with fresh mackerals.I was drooling over the prawns in the Prawn Dry Fry cooked in Malabari masala. It had the right blend of spices and I really enjoyed every bit of it.What really impressed me was the vegatable preparations, the Pansachi bhaji (Jackfruit Bhaji) and the Ansache Sasav (Pineapple Sasvam) a unique preparation in which the pineapple is tempered with mustard seeds giving it a tangy flavor.Their Kebab Platter has a variety of kebabs, i.e, Mughlai, Seekh, Tikka, Haryali and Banjara. Each distinct and temptingly delicious. They have a choice of Fish Platters with varying rates served as per choice. For main course we had Tandlache Vodde (light crispy pooris) with Chicken Xacuti. The vodde complimented the goan xacuti so well. We also had Prawn Curry with boiled rice and Rawa fried prawns. If you are here, please do not skip out on their Serradura for dessert. Also, their Choice of cocktails is very refreshing. The have some amazing must try signature cocktails on the menu.Spice Goa is indeed THE place for #BestSeaFood !Ambience – 5/5Service- 5/5Food – 5/5Value for money – 4/5
Spice Goa, has over time come to be known as the abode of Goan cuisine. It’s new outlet in Verem, is promising, exciting and delivers on all forefronts. I was in total awe of the utilisation of it’s expansive space. Lodged in a restored Portuguese house, Spice Goa is tastefully decorated. The outdoor bar will give you relaxed Goan ‘susegado’ vibes. Beside it, is a ‘mud room’ which caught my interest, with it’s traditional Goan interiors, reminiscent of yesteryear Goa. Infact, Spice Goa seemed altogether like a Goan village of its own! Prawns Peri-Peri, though of Portuguese-african origin, this version with a hit of rustic Indian spices is sure to tickle your taste buds. It has an aromatic heat to it and I’d recommend if you’re into spicy food. Batter Fried calamari is crisp and light, and great as a starter.Prawns Banana is delightful! Prawns marinaded in green masala uniquely steamed in banana leaves, which sealed in moisture and helped retain flavour and aroma. I highly recommend the Chicken kebab platter! Variety of kebabs and huge quantity too. Pahadi kebabs are a great option too.Lobster butter garlic is Divine! Each bite is tantalizingly flavourful with all the garlic lemon butter and the breadcrumb topping. The seafood platter too is very impressive. There are different combinations of seafood platters. Kingfish reshado has impeccable taste! tangy and not too spicy, just the way I like it. Prawns Dry Fry was another highlight of the meal for me. Rawa fried Tiger Prawns is also very popular.Pineapple sasav, jackfruit bhajji, Bandgo tikkle, Chicken xacuti with vade(Rice Puri) were interesting additions to the menu. All wonderful and lip smacking! We called for a couple of cocktails that night. Garden Smash which had Gin, pineapple, lime and corriander is refreshing with a prominent pleasing corriander after-taste. They make a very good strong (without compromising on taste) Long Island Ice Tea (LIT)! Kokum rita was delightful! A fusion of tequila, Kokum juice, lime and sea salt. I recommend you have it in small sips, lest you’ll feel the tequila too strong. I was feeling experimental so I also ordered ‘Bromance’, which was a concoction of scotch, tamarind puree, lemon and bitters. This dynamic cocktail had very bold sour notes. But I’d recommend if you’re in for an exciting, tangy-tart cocktail experience. For dessert, Serra dura, prepared by the owners wife was delicious and kept us craving for more. Sweet ending! The owner Atul Shah was attentive to our needs, ensured quick service and our satisfaction. Very homey, truely Goan at it’s best, head over to indulge in a foodgasmic experience at Spice Goa!
Visited this place a few days ago. Loved the batter fried squids. The drinks are very unique they also have a bar outside the restaurant and also a goan room which gives you complete goan feels. The restaurant has indoor as well as outdoor sitting. This place gives a lovely vibe and also has ample parking space. The prawns in banana leaf are a must try.
Spice goa serves great goan and fresh seafood for the past so many years at their mapusa outlet.Their recently opened betim outlet has maintained the quality of the food served at spice goa. Among their specialities my personal favourites are prawns in banana leaf, mackerel tickle, their fresh seafood and serradura in the desserts.Their thali makes for an awesome lunch but its difficult to get a reservation in the afternoon.Overall a great place to dine.
The all famous Spice Goa opened another outlet in Verem. Kicking it off with a huge step up and new additions to the menu. They created a replica of a famous bar from the Portuguese times which was called the Shau Cho Bar.We began by ordering sangria and citrus cooler to beat the afternoon heat which was quite refreshing. We tried out a few authentic goan dishes like the Prawns wrapped in banana leaves which had a flavourful green masala marination and were absolutely delicious. The Mackerel tikkle which is prepared using fresh turmeric leaves and the all time favourite Chicken Cafreal. In addition we tried the Prawns Peri Peri, Chicken Peri Peri Kebab and Thai Grilled Chicken. Each were equally delicious. We ended our meal with their famous fish thali followed by Serradura.Highly recommend Spice Goa to those who are searching for authentic goan.
