Loved this place during our visit to Goa. The food was really good. We ordered drinks & lots of food. Staff was really nice & polite. After our food we had good time on beach beds right in front of their shack.
#memusafiringoaBoat Shack is a beach side shack on the Candolim beach. It is quite near to the beach entrance as you take a right from the water sports kiosk. Here you have an option of indoor and outdoor seating. The indoor seating is the usual restaurant style seating while the outside ones are reclining chairs right on the beach. You have to shell out extra for the latter. Both give you a beautiful view of the sea and waves. Now coming to the food, we only tasted veg food. The place however serves sea-food and other non-vegetarian items. We ordered Jeera rice, veg noodles and fries (chips). The food was really good. We requested the staff to make both dishes low spicy and they made sure it was. The jeera rice had flavors of coriander and jeera, tasting good. The noodles too were full of veggies and nice. The fries are always a favorite. The price of the Jeera rice and noodles was Rs 200 each. And half plate of fries was 80. Bottled water cost us 50 here. The downside is that they don’t accept card and they accepted paytm only after we were going to walk out saying we have no cash.Although the prices are higher than the usual family type restaurants, the view and ambience make up for it.Please follow my YouTube channel for more food and travel updates :TJ’sTravel&Food Channelhttps://www.youtube.com/channel/UCTGi-wOFXtzPwEAp0aQkUVw
Boat Shack is one among several shacks lining the Candolim beach. Is it special or different from the rest? Visibly, no, and food-wise , I can’t say. Traumatized by the hot sand burning the soles of our feet on a hot April afternoon, we dived into the first shack we saw and hence chanced upon Boat Shack. When in Goa, drink beer! So we placed our order for beer with the very friendly staff, plonked ourselves upon the cane chairs and settled in for a few hours of drinking and eating. Like most shacks, the variety of cuisines offered by Boat Shack is quite mind-numbingly diverse—Chinese, Indian, pasta, Goan food and a variety of other random foodstuffs! We played it safe and ordered Indian food this time around, starting with the Tandoori Gobi. It was coated in a marinade which appeared to contain yoghurt and spices, and cooked in the tandoor until it developed a nice char in spots on the outside. The gobi itself was tender, but with the sort of tenderness acquired from a long, slow cook in the tandoor and none of the fake pre-boiled stuff widely available. Super delicious! Throwing all concern for calories to the winds, I order a cheese naan for the main course. Not only is it gigantic, it is also covered in so much cheese that I found myself picking some cheese off of it while eating! The healthy side of me is shaking my head and telling me it was a bad choice, but the foodie in me was rejoicing with every bite. The naan itself was soft and warm, and cheese simply makes everything better, right? With this, we ordered the veg kadhai. Once again, it was rather unhealthy with generous quantities of oil (or was it butter?), but oh-so-good. The spice level was perfect (not too spicy but not too tomatoey either), the vegetables were well-cooked and it went with the cheese naan quite brilliantly :-)The starter, two naans and the veg kadhai were all of a generous quantity, leaving the two of us quite stuffed. In addition, it only cost us about 420 rupees which I consider insanely cheap. If you’re a Mumbai-snob looking for nicely-served, lovingly prepared food, then don’t bother. But when in Goa, I often find myself turning to unhealthy, greasy, slapdash but delicious meals, and this fit the bill perfectly.
