This place has an ambience that makes you feel like you are sitting in some local joint in Portugal. The lighting is dim, almost depressing, with spotted and faded tablecloths all around. There is a trophy proclaiming them to be the best local cuisine servers in 2013 and newspaper cuttings adorn the walls but the owners need to realise that it is 2018 now and they need to keep up the quality if they even want to be called a half decent restaurant. The menu boasts an amalgamation of Portuguese and Goan cuisine although the wait-staff had little to no clue about what’s what. I settled for Goan pork sausages with bread rolls as a starter but it was so disappointing that I didn’t bother to order anything else. The portions were tiny. The bread, although fresh, was dry and doughy. The sausages were so dry that all they oozed was oil. When I informed the waiter about it, he said that’s how it is and he can not do anything about it.Highly disappointing experience.
Nice quiet ambience, small portions, not really value for money. We had a spooky caju orange cocktail, beef xacuti, squid rings, and steamed rice, none of which were above average in taste and flavour and quantity quite limited for price.
Brilliant place that makes you feel like you are traveling back to Portuguese ruled Goa right from the decor to the music. The chicken peri peri is my staple. Coming here brings back a ton of childhood memories.
Ferradura is probably one of the last places that focuses on Portuguese cuisine in Goa, though with the rise of many other establishments in the state, its drawing power when it comes to audiences may be waning a little. The food is here is neither understated nor overstated; it is what it claims to be: straight up Portuguese folk fare, interspersed by a few Indo-Portuguese counterparts. There are slight deviations from commercial recipes though, making these a tad more authentic. I have many fabulous childhood memories of this place.
With an intimate setting, minimum decor, and quite ambience, Horse Shoe may not figure prominently in touristic discussions, but this place provides wholesome, distinctive Portuguese fare. Run predominantly by one man who is the owner and chef, familiar preparations like xacuti get a unique twist here, which makes the whole experience worthwhile. We had the xacuti, guisado, bacalhau among other dishes, which were all great. Also, Horse Shoe provides the best caramel custard I have had and an interesting cashew cake (albeit a bit dry).
We were super hungry, and we were really happy that there was no delay in service. The food was delicious and portion sizes were good. I liked the sea food.
So we entered this place to have dinner one evening.. We saw so many cars parked outside this place so we thought that we wouldn’t get a table.. But when we entered, to our surprise, there was not a single soul there apart from one waiter.. We ordered prawns curry rice and chicken steaks.. The chicken steak was completely bland.. It was served with ketchup which was tasty but clumped.. The curry was okay-ish.. The only things that were good bout this place were the service and interiors and the waiter was polite.. Wouldn’t visit this place again..
