Ambience:Agashiye as the name denotes it means out-door seating on the terrace, but turn of events after we arrived in ahemdabad it has been incessantly pouring, luckily the weather had cooled off the sizzling city. This being an erst-while era property it has retained its old world charm which reflects in the entire decor.Love the flooring per se.They have beautiful layout of group tables in one area and cosy seating for 2/4 in the adjacent area.We started of with a Lemon mint cooler which was insanely good. The feeling towards the end almost comes of khus.but is not.Refreshingly cool.Gotchya!Chaas:This one could drink by the jar.Mildly khatta. So good!Patrapalakchaat:This was crisp deep-fried goody which was dunked in yogurt, green and date chutney.Gimme more! There was kachumbar, assortment of pickles garlic, imli, kairi & white butterIn farsan there were corn pakora which was crisp medium spicy dunk it with date and green chutney.Paarty!Handwo:Who doesnt like this cumbersome snack?Tell me!This baked goody made with rice, vegetable and lentils.Gift from above no?Batata rassawala:This was medium-spicy which was without the skin,1point cut for tht.Dude u took away the nutrients, other than tht it had regular medley of indian spices and hint of jaggeryBesan gatta:This was yogurt, tomato based gravy thickened with besan. The gatta are long besan cylinders cut and boiled in gravy till cooked. This cud hv been tad better.Moong fangawelah:This is steamed and served.Healthy!Bhindi:This is delicately flavoured.Very light indian spices.Love it!Dal:So the debate has been surti dal is sweet and ahemdabad dal is spicy. How do i know this?My ma-inlaw is from navrangpura ahmedabad and my pa-inlaw is from athwa lines surat.Aha!Thts how i know.Have been eating both versions over 2decades.I love both. This one has less jaggery and good blend of indian spicesI always believe tht dal should be served hot on the hot rice, but as i dont like food to be wasted am always stuck with cold dal over hot rice. From my goodness i minus my own one point.Kadi:This was khaati meeti.Ohh u could drink this by the truck-load.With perfect blend of besan and yogurt.Perfect tempering of jeera,hing,curryleaves.gingergreenchilli.Keep it flowing!Moongdalsheeroh:Now we all know this is a tough one to get right.BoyOhBoythey hv nailed itPista basundi:Me an einstein had sheeroh first so couldnt taste my basundi sweetness. My folly. They had garnished it well with pista.Thts how thickened milk should be.Less sweet! The choice of bhakri, paratha keeps coming till u wave the flagGulkand icecream:By now we were bursting thru the seams,so sadly cudnt savour our favourite flavourPaan:Ohh this left me dry-mouthed for a long time!Should u visit? What do u think!Happy Eating!
One of the best heritage restaurant of ahmedabad where you can try authentic Gujarati Dish where excellent food quality delicious taste and yes courteous staff and also they brief you about food platter and Ambience is also wow factor ! Highly recommend and feel that vibes. Go ahmedabadi go.
The best place for a Gujrati thali in the world !! Did I make a tall statement ? Sure, I did !! And I stick to these words. I tried the kansa thali on my recent trip to Ahmedabad and aboslutely loved the contrast of flavours and textures. Everything from the farsaan to the mains was mindblowimg. Loved the handwo and the different chutneys. Even the dal and kadi were next level. The small paranthas went really well with all the preparations on offer. For desserts, I loved the Rajbhog halwa and its possibly the best halwa that I have ever tasted. (and I have tasted quite a few) Really, words do not do justice to some places and you need to experience it yourself to believe it. Do try it out at your earliest convenience. The staff would treat you like royalty but feed you as someone feeds a kid.Follow me on Instagram @SPICEITUPWITHSAM
