I checked in to Amrik Sukhdev in search of the quality and the faith people have from this place. The ambiance is attractive. They have a huge sitting capacity. I got a table and sat their. As I hopped on their menu, I ordered Paneer Parantha with Chai. As it arrived it was nothing as I had heard. Delhi gives best of the Paranthas than this.Lastly had a Gulab Jamun to end my food hunt on a good note.Service is good. One can try this place just for the namesake and fun.

Amongst all the super fancy Dhabas lined up on the way to all your journeys uphills from Delhi Amrik Sukhdev is highlighted significantly when spoken about Murthal. After hearing a lot about the famous 24/7 restaurant we, at last, visited this place to know if the hype was justified or not. They have a great range of delights on their menu, which not only includes Parathas, but a spread of Chinese and North Indian main courses as well along with the most celebrated sweets in the Indian cuisine and ice creams too. The variety is inclusive of a humongous range of delights. The seating area (both the kinds, indoors as well as outdoors) is massive. It also has clean washrooms which is a major requisite for halting spots like these. Right outside the restaurant, there is another structure which includes gift shops, paan stalls and other necessary shops comprising of everything which one might need while travelling. Along with the outdoor seating, there are chaat, snacks, ice cream, chuski and frozen yoghurt stalls. The place is crowded most of the time, sometimes it is also difficult to find seats due to the rush. The service, however, is quick hence is sort of compensates. Coming to the food, this place serves food at slightly higher prices compared to others. We tried Allu Paratha, Soya keema paratha, Pav Bhaji, Amritsari Kulche with chole, Paneer Lababdaar, Butter Naan, Desi Ghee Jalebi, Plain Rabri and Gajar ka Halwa. The Parathas are served with a dollop of white butter, a bowl of Dahi or Yoghurt and there are two varieties of achaar available on the table itself. I personally found the paratha ordinary and not too exclusively delicious. For the price they charge, one plate of paratha only comprises of one single paratha which seems less but is quite filling. But again nothing extraordinary. Pav bhaji was average too, rather bland I would say, the platter is filling yet taste-wise, not worth the hype at all. Amritsari Kulcha was also the same, served with bland salty chole. The kulche are nothing special but simply are panner stuffed naan. Keema Paratha is a super bad decision which we took, we expected it to be good because it has the potential to be great but it disappointed it massively, too dry, too bland in short just toooo bad. Paneer lababdaar, I will rate it 1 out of five stars, horrible taste, paneer pieces were not cooked just put in the prepared gravy which was just not up to the average mark even. Butter naan were okay, but the butter on the naan dint smell or taste like butter rather seemed like oil to me. Well, after all the average tasting to almost bland tasting food, sweets did some damage control. Gajar ka Halwa, even though priced rs. 100 and serving just about a 100-150grams in one serving tasted good, balanced amount of sugar and ghee made it stand out. Jalebis were good, not great, they serve a small plate of mini jalebis comprising of about 12-15 jalebis. We visited the outlet twice, the first time Rabri was delicious, milky and smoothe but the second time it disappointed us massively. All in all, it is a good place to visit but not worth all the hype around it.

Everyone praise Murthal and its Parathas. So, I decided to hop on to this one stop destination for all the food lovers. This area is surrounded by so many Dhabas and it was a difficult decision to choose one option :p. We finally went to the most famous one – Amrik Sukhdev and had their special dish – Tandoori Paratha(so much butter and amazing stuffing with perfect blend of Masalas) and Special Kulhad Chai(so refreshing ). It’s a must try for all the food lovers and it’s damn reasonable! Do try this place out super soon !! …I went early in the morning around 6am and it was jam packed !! And service was pretty quick !!

  • Through My Lens

The place was very jam packed and we had to wait a good 30 minutes before getting seats. But nonetheless, the service was quick. We had the classic paranthas, alloo and alloo pyaaz, both were very, very good. The Papdi chaat was lovely as well.
