My bad luck I read the reviews here after my visit there, I totally echo and agree with all the honest reviewers here, place is overpriced and overpowering at the same time – all the items are presented as if they are a must must when you are in Simla without which your trip is incomplete.. which is not true average tasting food tastes even worse when you get to know the price you paid for it
Racist owners – Absolute scum.There’s no better way to spoil your day in Shimla than by entering Embassy Bakery! 1) White people privilege – The owners will seat you according to your color. Yup. In 2019. You can only sit by the windows if you are white, otherwise, make do with other areas since the windows are reserved for white people. And this is no secret, the man even went on to say that Britishers should have continued with their rule in Shimla. The locals have destroyed it. 2) Absurd opinions of the owners – They will continue with their unasked for opinion about YOU. Rants about people from Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, right to your faces.3) Cheating when you order – If you order 1 coffee, they will add a cake with it for 300 Rs. and insist you must pay for it. If you order 1 cake – They will give you 3 saying 1 was not enough so we made 3 and will charge you for 3. The other issues like making faces if you ask for tissues are true too. Shame that such a place exists in Shimla.
WORST ATTITUDE OF MANAGEMENT!Just left after having the Rum Hot Chocolate and Chicken Burger, which was one of the worst burgers I have ever had with a very thick bun. The prices are steep as per the taste and quality. However, I wish I could give a -5 because of the owner’s attitude, the lady seems confused and pushing you to order something, the uncle’s attitude was the worst, with a sense of superiority and elitist attitude. On sharing my feedback politely on the burger, the uncle was rude enough to tell me that I have no sense of what burger is and I am only used to burgers from McDonald’s, on telling him that I belong to the biggest city in India and regularly have authentic burgers from many top joints, he was quick enough to say that all of those are scam and don’t know burgers and feeding you all crap. On deciding to not argue with that person anymore, he said to me that I should have sat next to me so that he could discuss my life and the things wrong in it!! With a very rude tone. I politely said I would look forward to it and left. Please don’t go there, the place is crap, is overrated with the worse management. There are plenty of good place in Shimla, avoid being disrespected.
Steer clear since this place will give you a food bug coupled with an assault on your senses. The Persian biryani was much touted but turned out to be disastrous (read stale). The owner was pushy in that he insisted on us eating certain dishes and not letting us decide. An ordinary sponge cake is what we got after asking for an apple, walnut pie. Overpriced. The owner is aged and potentially senile as he randomly switches between topics – from pies to why Germany invaded Poland. The son is a curious case and borderline inhospitable – didn’t welcome the guests; didn’t offer a table; was cagey when asked about outdoor seating. I suspect this place was good back in the day as I did read positive feedback from erstwhile customers and by erstwhile I mean a few decades ago since the post cards carrying the feedback were dated.
Ok trying my best to give a feedback with love! The lady behind the cake counter really needs to practice love in both her baking skills and speaking to customers. She is rude and her cakes are dry and stale. And a tiny piece of cheesecake slammed so rudely and unhappily costs 200 rs. Grudgingly gives a paper napkin. I was polite enough not to to tell them this on their face. Its tourist season I hope they improve and practice some love.
Pretty overpriced for what is essentially a sad excuse for a burger. The owner being rude doesn’t help. Needs a major reality check. Ambience and desserts make you believe that the food would be up there too, sadly not the case.
The most pretentious, overpriced place on Mall road. Has nice interiors and bakery and that’s about it. The owner tries hard selling stuff to the point where it makes you uncomfortable.
