I usually travel to Mysore a lot and I always visit my regular haunts for food. The one for breakfast being GTR. But I wanted to check out someplace new and that’s when I heard of Ramya from my cousin who is a localite.Ambience is not the talking point, but there are a good number of seats to accommodate the weekend rush.We ordered Masala Dosa, Kesari Bath and Halwa. To be honest I wasn’t expecting much, but the dosa was amazing. One of the better Masala Dosas I have had. Quite frankly blew my mind. The Kesari Bath was quite the opposite, never ordering that again. The halwa was also brilliant. Prices are definitely on the higher side. All in all definitely shifting my breakfast place to Ramya, just for the dosa. Nothing more to say, if you haven’t tried it yet, you must.
Why so much costly and confusion. Cost is more than in any hotel in Bangalore cost and taste does not match. We had to cross check bill 4-5 times and again they missed items in delivery. Those who can deliver on busy days are the best.
Hotel Location:Located in a Quaint little place just off the VV Double road. About Parking:Since this is located off the main road, parking is not an issue at all.About Restaurant:I have always been a big fan of this restaurant right from its original location (Near MUDA), I made a dashing visit to this place to have the early morning cup of coffee as my stay in the Mysore had a breakfast included. But still could not resist having an Upma which tasted awesome. I regret myself not having a complete breakfast here, but will make a trip soon to compensate this. But would strongly suggest you to have a Masala Dosa.
Ramya Mahendra Restaurant, Off MG Road, MysoreThis restaurant was popularly known as ‘Ramya Drive-In Restaurant’ located behind MUDA office Mysore. After the closure of that restaurant, it got relocated to place near RTO circle, next to water tank off MG Road.Though it’s no more a Drive-In restaurant everything else remained the same starting from tables and chairs to staff & their costume. They don’t serve meals as they are open from 7am-11am and 4pm-9pm, Tuesday holidayI love to eat Set Dosa but unfortunately I couldn’t get best set dosa at many other restaurants before as they used to create discomfort because of baking soda/ yeast. Finally I got the best Set Dosa here which is soft, fluffy and one can feel the difference at the very first bite. Though saagu wasn’t that great, I would rate the Set Dosa as the best I have had so far!!’Baby Idly’, Rava Idly is made of rawa but Baby Idly is not made of babies 😀 It got that because of the size, they well give 10 Idly served in a bowl of sambar with a spoon of ghee poured over it. Sambar was little sweet just like most South Canara hotels do + ghee which makes it awesome to eat along with Idly. Don’t miss that!Special Masala Dosa, It’s just like any Masala Dosa but they use ghee to prepare that which gives it extra crispness to the dosa. Aloo Palya wasn’t that great but dosa alone was really good with chutney. But the real ‘paisa-vasool’ & signature item here is Badam Halwa. Quantity is less but taste is really divine. Very few restaurants serve this item so don’t miss that if you visit this place.Overall a really good place to have South Indian delicacies, price is slightly on higher side. Ambiance is not that great but those who got liked/used to Ramya-Drive-In will like this as they have recreated the same.Price:Baby Idly – 50rsSet Dosa (4 dosas – 66rs) (2 dosas – 33rs)Special Masala Dosa – 60rsBadam Halwa – 30rsTaste: 4.5/5Ambiance: 3.5/5Service: 4/5Value For Money: 4/5
Have been eating here for more than 20 years now. Till date there is no change in the sambar that they prepare. Amazing experience. It’s always a nostalgia to taste the sambar here. #greatbreakfast
Great place for breakfast. Masala & Set dosa is awesome. Vada sambar was yumm. Coffee was superb. Definitely a must visit for breakfast on a quiet Mysuru morning.
The address has changed and needs to be updated. Ramya is a old restaurant that has been there for many years. Earlier they used to have a big drive in space where customers could sit in their vehicles and eat. Taste was never good earlier and is the same now too added to exorbitant prices equal to metro cities for bad food. The dosas are very bad as they suggest to eat that, it is not good and have seen many people leaving it mid way. The cutlet another suggestion is just a mash of yesterday’s sagoo and tastes bad. The idly vada is only thing u can eat if served fresh, and also partly due good sambhar. Rest of items are also just okay.
