My introduction to Kitchen Bowl happened rather interestingly. A friend recommended Jaisalmer and Kitchen Bowl happens to be in the same place in the Kitchens@Whitefield venue.Though it predominantly caters to both Vegetarian and Non-Vegetarian varieties, I chose the Vegetarian. And being an open kitchen I was able to watch my dish being prepared. The first thing that impressed me was they had dishes across cuisines and all looked pretty delicious. Though it’s a take away place, I requested the manager of the place, Gaurav, and the Chef, Abhishek, to allow me to eat there, on one of the waiting benches.I began with the starters / quick snacks and the first thing to come to me was a Chilli Mushroom. Soft and succulent the mushrooms were pretty well done. Though spicy for my palette, I was licking my fingers to savor every bit of the tangy spicy overnote while dabbing my watering eyes and sipping on water.Next was the Achari Alu. Crisp on the outside and fluffy on the inside, the masala was quite a treat. Although equally spicy, the flesh of the mini potato seemed to balance it out and got me wondering how it would have been, if they had stuffed the masala in, instead of lacing it over it. Nonetheless, quite a starter, I must admit.I cannot forget the super friendly staff who even served me with watermelon juice to help me douse the spice. On the house, mind you.Next came the Tandoori Paneer Tikka. The Paneer had been marinated well in the red (not so spicy) masala. By this time, I had asked them to reduce the spice and tend it towards bland. Delicious as it sounds, the juiciness of the Paneer and crispy outside combination did all the magic. The main course started with the Masala Kulcha. Served hot, I didnt care to wait, as the Desi Ghee generously dabbed on it was calling out to my taste buds. A complete dish in itself, withiut any accompaniments, it was the best Kulcha I have had for a long time now.It was calles Kitchen Bowl and so I had to taste one speciality at least. Thats when the Jodhpuri Dum Aloo with Peas Pulao, caught my eye. The orders came pretty quick and I did not waste time to have them when they were hot (temperature) and fresh. The Peas Pulao was very pleasant and not spicy at all. The Jodhpuri Dum Aloo had a slightly tangy taste and filled with aroma of the indian spices used. My tatebuds were happy to have a rather perfect end to a rather spicy begining. It left like life, we start the journey with tears and smile looking back at the wonderful memories.
