Peacock is a fine dining restaurant that specialises in Chaat and Kebabs. I was invited to try out their new a la carte menu and I must add that it was a lovely and memorable experience! Just a little warning for those who don’t like long reviews, this is a very long review.Ambience- 4.5/5The spacious restaurant has a very warm environment. The sofas are very comfortable and it’s high raised backrest ensures privacy between tables. The linen napkins are bright peacock blue in colour which is quite attractively folded into the glasses. The sparkly chandeliers are very elegant and the paintings are aesthetically attractive as well. The environment is very relaxed, charming and the choice of instrumental music went well with the ambienceFood- 4/5The welcome drink was a Jal Jeera to cleanse the palate and set us up for the meal. I’m usually not a fan of Jal Jeera but this was not too overpowering, the flavour of chat masala shined through and gave it a vibrant zing! We were also served with green chutney and some crisps. The chutney has to be the HIGHLIGHT of the entire meal. Compliments to the chef because a thing as simple as a chutney can often be messed up but this was just perfect. The hint of chilli was prominent but not too spicy. The herby flavour was very refreshing and I think there was a bit of black salt in it that gave it an umami flavour. The crisps were not oily and crunchy. It was followed by the sweet corn vegetable soup which was very bland and sweet for my liking. Texture wise it was good but it didn’t have much of flavour. For drinks- We chose the wine punch and wine sangria.• Wine punch- The pineapple flavour was prominent with a tinge of coconut. It tasted lovely and very refreshing with the meal. It cleansed my palate and helped me taste every dish better. • Wine sangria- The wine warmed my throat like it should, there was a little apple juice flavour apart from the subtle orange flavourFor starters- We tried the chat platter, kebab platter, aloo kachori and raw banana tikki • Chaat platter- The winsome platter had 4 components: dahi puri, papdi chaat, pani puri and dahi papdiThe dahi puri and dahi papdi had a similar flavour profile. Both of them were topped with silky beaten dahi, with a slightly spicy coriander chutney and a sweet and sour tamarind-jaggery chutney. Both the chutneys were brilliantly executed. The dahi papdi however had a little potato filling on the papdi piece. The beads of pomegranate made it all the more enjoyable. The green pani of the pani puri was very flavourful and well balanced. The hint of Jeera was subtle yet enough to provide the requisite flavour. The papdi chaat was good too.• Kebab platter- it consisted of 8 elements1) Tandoori babycorn- it was smoky, well spiced, tender and tasted good 2) Cheese tikka- it was a little dry and less flavourful. The cheese also gave it a little extra saltiness. 3) Makhmalli paneer seekh- this was the best in the platter. It was very creamy, melt in the mouth and delicious.4) Veg Kurkure- this was the second best in the platter. The vegetable based kebab was rolled in sev which provided the crunchy texture and the coriander made it more flavourful.5) Shopiana paneer tikka- similar to the regular paneer tikkas. It had a good smoky flavour from the tandoor. 6) Tandoori gobi- the warmth and flavour of the tandoori spices was scrumptious but it was a tad overdone for my liking. It could have had some more bite to it.7) Malai Mushroom- the Mushroom was not overdone. It had a filling of rich khoa and the malai marinade made it more tasty. 8) Achari aloo- the herb and pickle marinated mini potatoes were very tender and surprisingly not overly tangy. • Aloo kachori- we had it “garma garam” as suggested by service staff. It was beautifully done with the hot and spicy potato filling. The sweet and slightly tart jaggery tamarind chutney along with herby coriander chutney made it delectable.• Banana tikki- The fritter were crisp, not oily and very subtle in flavour. For main course-We tried a few items from the buffet- butter naan, veg pulao, paneer kurchan, sabzi miloni, tava veg fry, dal tadka and somtum salad. There were also many other salads, pasta in white sauce and noodles but I didn’t try those. All the dishes were well done. The tava veg fry was the best among them, the okra wasn’t over cooked and wasn’t gummy which bowled me over because there’s nothing worse than overcooked, gummy okra. The dal tadka was also well executed. Although similar to “ghar ka dal” the tadka was so flavoursome due to the asafoetida and garlic coming it play. The somtum salad is a raw papaya salad that has it’s origin from Thailand. It wasn’t as authentic as it’s Thai counterpart but still tasted good. Dessert-Stuffed with all the food, we practically had no space for dessert but there’s a saying that “there’s always space for dessert” so we tried 3 of them as trying all was nearly impossible. The gulab jamun was so moreish and scrumptious. The gajar ka halwa was not overly sweet which made it so pleasant to eat. The rich flavour of ghee just shined throughout. The jelebi however was mediocre. It had a weird aftertaste which was something similar to overfrying beyond the smoking point. The butterscotch ice cream was good!Service- 4.5/5Mr Prabhakar and his entire team are wonderful people. The service was courteous, polite and above all, quick. Value for money- 4/5The food is worth the price. The daily changing buffet is something that is worth a shot as it’s not too expensive for a fine dining experience! All in all, a wonderful experience which marked a beautiful night. I’d definitely visit it again, especially for the chaats and kebabs.
Visited this particular place on a weekday for lunch with my office colleagues. Located on the first floor, this place offers comfortable seating options. I find the ambience lighting to be a bit on a darker side.Opted for non veg buffet, must say they had some nice varities not only in non veg but in Veg as well. I liked there small kachoris served in Veg buffet. Loved there chicken tikka as well. Except the starter beverage i like the over all starter buffet options. They Even had a nice spread in main course buffet. Biryani was delicious and chicken curry was perfect. Ended the fiest with deserts. Over all i like their service and buffet options.
Peacock, a fine dining multi-cuisine eatery in Indiranagar prides itself in serving dishes ranging from North Indian delicacies to Mughlai and continental savories. We went there on a Thursday to try some of their leading victuals. The ambiance was quite lively, with harmonious music, typically speaking of a place you can have a family dinner at. Although popular for their buffets, we decided to go A la Carte on this one. We ordered a red wine and a white wine-based vanilla cocktail, and both of them were extremely good. So much so that we asked for a repeat of our drinks. The vanilla layer on top enhanced the taste of the wine beneath, and the drinks tasted just as good as they looked. For starters, we had the Potato leek soup, and panipuri followed by Mutton Sheek kabab and Chicken Sufiana kabab. Quite pleased with all of them. The soup and the puri were definitely an appetizer, and the kebabs quite mouth-watering as well. A right amount of spicy and cooked, a complete justice to the North Indian style of cooking. In vegetarian starters, we had Onion Rings, Cheese fingers and fried mushrooms. Unfortunately, the veg starters did not live up to the mark. The crust of the dishes was doughily rendering the inner filling bland and tasteless. Fish crumbs didn’t seem quite fresh to taste. Next, for the main course, we had Dal Makhani, Butter chicken, Chicken tikka lababdar and Mutton Rogan Josh. The Dal Makhani, in keeping with the tedious task of preparing it, was an encouraging step by the chefs, albeit it could not stand tall. The texture and consistency of the makhani was missing and the dal wasn’t fused well. The mutton rogan Josh was A class! The juices adequately infused, this was quite a lovely dish. So were the Butter chicken and Chicken tikka lababdar. Accompanied with naan and rice, the meaty curries successfully lifted our evening. For desserts, we had the Gajar halwa, moong daal halwa and gulab jamun. Desserts were hands down the forte of the evening. With the gajar halwa brought back the comfort of home in terms of its look, taste, and aroma, the Gulab jamun stole the shower. Small, soft and syrupy, it easily melts in your mouth. In a nutshell, the North Indian and Mughlai forms of dishes here are quite good, while the restaurant needs to improve on their vegetarian and continental sides. The staff is quite polite and the ambiance decent enough
