Two friends of mine and me decided to check out Shades of Coffee late last week. Located on 17th main, Sector 3, HSR, this cafe shop is easy to miss due to its subterranean location. But a step into the cafe takes you straight to the hill stations of India, with its wood decor elements and soft yellow light, filling the whole cafe with a certain comforting warmth. With an eclectic coffee menu, and the intensity of the conversation ahead of us, we decided to opt for a staple South Indian Filter Coffee. Being regular drinkers of the same, we were hugely suspicious of the cute cafe’s ability to churn out a trusted Darshini staple. The frothy, flavourful cuppa, in a traditional brass dawar set did not disappoint at all. In fact, it was so delicious, that we repeated the order, with an additional of two ginger cookies, which tasted like a hug in a bite.With very kind and helpful staff, quaint little touches like an umbrella and raincoat stand, and two adorable kittens, Shades of Coffee seems like the perfect space to escape from the world outside ad focus on the two things that matter the most – conversations and coffee, albeit on hard-ish cushions.

And also to mention, one of the very few places serving a bulletproof coffee.But, the best part was the interaction with the barista and the owners, Nirupam and Akanksha. Extremely knowledgeable and passionate about their craft. Got to understand and know quite a few new things about the brewing process.Next time, would definitely brew my own cup. 🙂

Nice cozy place in HSR, serving good and authentic coffee. Owner is very friendly and knowledgeable, she explained us about coffee cultivation and all its process. Liked it a lot. Will surely visit to have a nice cup of coffee when in HSR.
