It’s a great place to try Mangalorean style seafood. A banana leaf rice meal with fresh fried fish makes for an incredibly satisfying lunch. Here’s what I ordered-1. Fish curry meal -Served with white/parboiled rice, curry, dry shrimp chutney, a sabzi and a coconut chutney.Rating: 8/10Price: Rs.45Except the coconut chutney I enjoyed everything on the plate. It’s what you’d expect.2. Anjal tawa fry -Fresh Seer fish covered in tangy masala served with a slice of lemon.Rating: 10/10Price: Rs.240A little bit on the expensive side. The piece was fresh as well as huge and fleshy.3. Muru Meen Rava Fry -Local reef cod deep fried in spicy masala served with a slice of lemon.Rating: 10/10Price: Rs.100This was my first time trying Muru and it was an absolute delight. The fish was soft and had huge chunks of meat. It was fresh and fried well. The masala used was also delicious.Note: No Mangalorean fish meal is complete without buttermilk. The buttermilk here costs Rs.10 and is served in a small earthen vessel. It’s spicy and loaded with mint – Just what you need to beat the Manipal heat.
