Ambience – 4.5/5 Food – 4/5 Service – 4.5/5 VFM – 4/5 Parking – ValetUlavacharu is a Andhra style restaurant that claims to serve authentic and unique Andhra/Telangana dishes that are not usually served in most restaurants. The name itself derives from a unique Andhra dish – a soup made of horse gram that rarely makes to the menu card in most Andhra restaurants, but is relished across the state. The decor is rustic and instantly draws a string in your heart. the restaurant is spacious and had just the right amount of lighting to set a stimulating mood. Began with a welcome dessert – khaja, that is a kind of layered pastry made of refined wheat and sugar. Next up was Rajahmundry Rose milk – delicious and cool rose-flavored milk that was a perfect foil to the spicy food that was to follow. That said, it tasted more of strawberry to me than rose. For starters we had Mokkajonna Vepudu, a fried babycorn dish, tossed in a fiery sauce, and Pandumirapakaya Veg, ripened red chilli with a filling of ground veggies, that resembled a veg sheekh, complete with a toothpick skewer. The gravy in which it was finally tossed was spicy, aromatic and set the taste buds on fire!Next up was Vankaya chips, or brinjal/eggplant chips. This was very different from the Bengali baigun bhaja – was crispier, slices were quite thin, the brinjal used was the small, elongated ones, and it was served with fried curry leaves and green chilles! Thoroughly relished this one!The final starter was Bangla Paneer. Another unique dish that consisted of a thinly sliced potato with a cube of paneer, with the potato bent over like a mini-taco, held together by a toothpick, fried and smothered with a fiery dry masala. Boy, was I glad the rose-milk was there for my rescue! For mains, we got the much recommended Gutti Venkaya pulao, or brinjal pulao. Again, a unique dish that hardly makes it to the menu card, and a definite must-try. It was served with raita, gravy and the most amazing gongura chutney I’ve had for some time. Washed it all down with another glass of rose milk!Overall, very satisfied with the food. Keep up the good work!

One the best places to have andhra food in bangalore. The most authentis andhra food can be witnessed here. Ulavacharu means a gravy made with horse gram which is very famous in andhra delicacy. The ambience is welcoming. Soothing music to the ears. Seating is done well. The place is crowded most of the days during lunch time.Tried a lot of different dishes which truly tastes delicious. We had butter milk, milk mysore pak, french fries, babycorn starter, fish kabab, chicken wrapped in potato chips, guttivankaya pulav, rajugari kodi pulav, panner tikka pulav, bamboo chicken, pappu charu, daddojanam, apricot delight.Butter milk was creamy and refreshing. milk mysore pak just melts in your mouth. Frnch fries with chilly which gives you a unique flavor. Babycorn starter was done well with good amount of flavour. Fish kabab was nice and tender. Chicken wrapped in potato and deep fried. it looks like tacos but with potato. The best starter ever. One must try this dish here. Bamboo chicken was good. It had good flavour in it. The major attraction in this place is the pulav. Guttivankaya pulav is masala brinjal with flavourful rice. 5/5 for this dish. Must try dish in ulavacharu. Rajugari kodi pulav is rich in flavour and rice is mushy. It is more like khichdi but with robust flavours of masala. Pappu charu is khichdi based on lentils & rice with lots of cashwes and ghee. Again a must try dish here for all. Paneer tikka pulav was tasty. One must order plain white rice and try the ulavachru gravy with ghee. It is mild in flavour and gives a soothing taste. Daddojanam is curd rice with mushed rice and lots of tempering. Apricot delight is a sweet dish served with roasted almonds and milk. Again one must try this dish here.Overall this place gives you the best authentic flavours from andhra where traditional delicacies are taken and modern twist is given to the customers. One must dine here to experience these delicious food.

Perfect place for an authentic Andhra meal particularly Biryani and Pulao. Haven for not just non-veg lovers but vegetarians alike. I thoroughly enjoyed the culinary experience that this place offers.Ambience – The moment you enter you feel a sense of divinity. It has those positive vibes. Love the decor throughout which reminds you of a traditional village house. Quite spacious.Food – Visit on a weekday to relish their thalis. I visited for lunch on a Saturday afternoon when they have a variety of amazing ala carte options. Started off by having the No. 1 buttermilk which is the spiced version. This was so refreshing. I loved the flavour. The food is served on a banana leaf and automatically enhances the taste. Please use your hands to eat and relish the food. They start off by offering a complimentary sweet and I got lucky with Mysore Pak. It melted in my mouth.Starter:Vankai Chips – For all those who hate Brinjal, please try this once and you will fall in love with eggplant after having this. Thin sliced, round eggplant slices fried with spices and very delicious.Mokkajonna Vepudu – Fried baby corn ; This was perfect for the weather and quite scrumptiousPandu Mirapakaya Veg – Love this appetizing mixed veg starter which is rolled on a stick and served ; You can’t stop gorging on these ; FlavourfulMain Course:Pappu Charu Annam – This is my comfort food and this was great on that count. Topped with ghee, this is a wonderful healthy option.Gutti Vankaya Pulao – I am salivating just thinking about this ; It is basically stuffed brinjal curry served in a pulao style with rice but the taste was mindblowing. Highly recommended.Avakai Veg Pulao – An absolute favourite as this has the right amount of spiciness and tangy flavours infused.Ulavacharu Rice – The famous Horse gram (Ulavacharu) which lends its name to the restaurant ; this is served in a paste and we need to mix it with white rice and add ghee to it ; This was drool worthy and the flavours were bang on.Daddojanam – Perfect end to a nice Andhra meal ; this is made of beaten rice mixed with curd and tempered with mustard and other spices ; Soothes your stomach and taste buds alikeDessertApricot Delight – Great tasting dessert. This is a perfect place to enjoy a meal together with family or friends. Service is quite fast and they pay attention to details as well.Overall – Must visit !!!

New place to try authentic South Indian Andhra style cooking. You are welcomed with an exquisite and lavishly grandeur interior giving immense pleasure and mental satisfaction of being in a traditional village atmosphere. Furthermore their rich and flavourful spices will take you on an immersive journey where you are ought to fall in love with its purity and tranquility. Still some points needs to be taken care of. And we’re good to go. Maybe can become the best and most sought after place in the area in future.
