Ambience – 3.5/5 Food – 5/5 Service – 4/5 VFM – 4.5/5 Parking – NoChichaba’s Taj has a history dating back to 1935, when they first opened at Shivajinagar. Subsequently they have outlets at HRBR and Frazer Town, albeit with different logos. They have now rebranded themselves and have gone back to their roots with their original logo, and relaunched a new menu of traditional Muslim cuisine. Was part of a mixed group, and I’ll be reviewing the vegetarian spread we had.As it was a little early that we reached there, we started with masala tea and their special Biscotti, which is, biscuits made of roti. This is one unique dish that is an absolute must have – thin crisp and a perfect companion to piping hot tea.For starters we had Lal mirch Paneer ki Phaal, Kumbh Shaan-e-aam, Paneer Tikka and Ande ka Phaal. The Paneer ki Phaal deserves a special shout-out – succulent slabs of paneer stuffed with mashed potato, coated with a spicy paste and cooked to perfection. Couldn’t have enough of it, even the non-vegetarians in the group fell in love with the dish. The Paneer Tikka was delectable and went well with the mint chutney served with it – had a lovely achari flavour to it. Kumbh Shaan-e-aam is a stuffed mushroom dish and is another very good dish. The last starter was Ande ka Phaal, a mashup of boiled eggs in a pepper based sauce and topped with fresh greens. For main course, we had seviyan, sheermal and Paneer kalimirch.Tender chunks of paneer cooked in a fiery chilly and black pepper gravy. Paired well with the white rice seviyan, that very closely resembled the idiyappams of Kerala. We were also served the traditional Persian flatbread Sheermal, that had a tinge of sweetness, from the milk and saffron used in preparing the batter.Up next was Veg Biryani, served with onion raita and baingan ka salan. Now this was very different in taste from the gravy or mirch ka salan served in other places, and I mean that in a very good way. The baingan was not overcooked, and its texture complemented the soft rice perfectly. A very good rendition, if I may.No meal is complete without desserts and this one was no different. Enter the classical Mughlai dish, phirni, a pudding made of ground rice cooked in sweetened milk with saffron, badam and elaichi. Simple and absolutely delicious. But the pièce de résistance for the evening was the Ande ki Mithai. A traditional dish typically served in Muslim weddings, and one that is rarely found in restaurants, this one takes the cake. A baked dish of eggs, khoya, ghee and some flour, it was tender, soft and had a wonderful texture that felt magical with every bite! A really perfect ending to a splendid meal!Service was very good and the staff were polite.

If you are a Muslim style biryani lover, then this is a must visit place. They have authentic Muslim cuisine. They have mouth watering chicken kabab too.Loved the Mutton Biryani. Chicken biryani was delicious too. Meat was tender and juicy. The biryani is made of seeraga samba rice. Mild in taste and very flavour full. It is accompanied with raitha and brinjal red gravy. The staffs are courteous. In love with the biryani here. Worth visiting.

We reached here on a Sunday afternoon around 12:30 for a brunch, it was less crowded at that time and they served us very quickly. We liked mutton biriyani and chicken kabab.
