With a plethora of pan-Asian joints opening across Bangalore, this cuisine is the new rage among patrons, given the usage of familiar herbs and spices in food. Does 1Q1 continue in the same vein or does it have more than meets the eye? Let’s find outAmbience:Located right beside the Indian Express Building on Infantry road, this place is hard to miss. As you enter, the large, almost cavernous ceiling takes a bit getting used. With lovely, almost medieval arches around the place, full-length painted window panes and the combination of rustic and modern flooring blending in seamlessly, the ambience here is definitely chic. A lovely bar open bar counter takes up one side of the space and marks the entrance to the outdoor space which is not bad too. A combination of high-tables and chairs, regular tables, sofa and Al Fresco, you will be spoilt for choice in terms of seating.Drinks: My favorite cocktail from the list was the Saku Bliss. Hibiscus-infused bourbon, egg-whites and a few other odds and ends, I loved this red beauty.Food:While 1Q1 has been around for some time now, this is a review for their revamped menu which included some popular Asian favorites and a few dishes showcasing the effect of Peruvian Immigrants on Japanese food. Here are some of my favorites from this Menu:General Tso’s Chicken: Tangy, slightly sweet and a hint of chili, this starter from 1q1’s new menu was the perfect accompaniment to our lovely cocktails. The additional of crisp-fried lotus stems added a lovely crunch to the dish.Thai Birds Eye Chili Pork: Roasted thinly sliced pork with Birds Eye Chili, Chinese Garlic and shallot, this was a wonderful rendition of a Cantonese classic. The heat from the chili and the slight sweetness from the shallots with a gentle zing of garlic combined brilliantly in this one. We ended up ordering another helping of this dish.Green Mango and Whitefish Tiradito: An explosion of flavors and so pretty to look at, this dish was a revelation. Tangy, zesty, sour and a hint of sweetness, talk about flavourful. Tiradito is a Peruvian dish which is similar to a ceviche in many aspects. This one was cured with Leche de tigre and had sliced red snapper, green mango, lemongrass, shallots and birds eye chili.Grilled Octopus w/ Anticucho Sauce: Our first taste of baby octopus, this went down really well. Unlike the popular misconception of Octopus, if cooked properly, this isn’t too chewy. This was cooked in slightly familiar flavors of coriander, pepper and lime.Wakame and Cucumber Salad: Trust the Japanese to come up with dishes that are minimalistic and beautiful! Wakame is an edible seaweed popularly used in Japanese cuisine and has a distinctly strong aftertaste. It went really well with the thinly sliced cucumber though.Chicken Gyoza: Gyoza are Japanese pan-fried dimsums. The version here looked distinctly unique, with a thin, crisp almost paper-like coating of flour. The filling was juicy, flavorful and sumptuous.Rendang Lamb Curry: Oh my god, memories of this dish are making my mouth water as I write. This was one amazing dish. Slow cooked succulent lamb in a rich red gravy of mixed ground spices (shallots, lemongrass, chili, garlic etc) and served with a fragrant jasmine rice. I simply loved this dish!Desserts: The desserts at 1Q1 are legendary and despite a relatively heavy meal, we gobbled down the desserts. Our favorites included the ultra-delicious and beautifully presented cheesecake with sour-cherry coulis and the lovely-textured avocado parfait with brownie squares and matcha-crumble soil.Verdict: 1Q1 is a notch above most places, given its extensive and carefully curated menu, excellent seating options, and truly authentic food. Highly recommended! theuncliched.com

This place was bookmarked on my list for a long time.Ambiance : Loved the decor and the ambiance. Looked pricey and elite. Upmarket feel.Service : Very attentive and discrete.Food : Very well presented. Very Pretty. I hoped that the food tasted as good as they the dishes looked and I wasnt disappointed. The salad green mango and pappaya salad, one o favs was done very well. The Sushi-Sashimi dishes like Salmon Sashimi, Crab stick california Roll, Salmon and bread cheese roll were very good. We had also tried the Umani prawns, Fish in Black pepper sauce, Pan fried jalapeno with pork, Pork spare ribs with red miso and We tried couple of mains and they were good too. The desserts had exotic names and were as good as the name – Deconstructed Apple pie and the classic cheesecake with sour cherry coulis.

Great ambience and thai cuisine! Went here for a party and had a great time. The waiters at the bar are pretty fast with the orders but the food service was slow. Waited for the chicken momos to arrive after half an hour, only to see they got us veg momos. Loved the thai curry and rice here, very authentic!

1q1 is definitely worth a visit pub. Great ambience, crowd and music. The disco ball is so pretty to look at. Good hospitality and food. It’s all Japanese cuisine that’s too bland but would taste perfectly Lip-smacking by mixing up the sauces that come with it so fellow vegetarians, looking for Indian food, take a note.I ordered vegetarian dry spicy Agedashi Tofu, Spinach and corn dimsum and medium spicy Pan Fried Noodles coupled with a few drinks. Everything tasted good.
