Ottimo, the Italian specialty restaurant at ITC Gardenia, is definitely a class apart. Renowned for its wonderful Italian fare, the restaurant has recently launched a new menu. I visited Ottimo with a few foodie friends to check out this new menu, which turned out to be an absolutely brilliant meal.We started with Burrata With Sour Cherries & Toasted Almonds, an innovative entree that was a right medley of sweet and salty and sour. The soft, salty burrata cheese and the sour berries were a match made in heaven! Alongside this, we sipped on a beautiful Guava, Orange & Black Pepper Mocktail specially designed by the bartender.Next up was Cauliflower & Chocolate Soup – an unusual combination of ingredients, but an extremely well executed dish for sure. The soup was creamy and smooth, redolent with herbs and absolutely delicious. The drizzle of chocolate shavings on the soup bowl was just the perfect ‘dressing’ for it. A must-try at Ottimo, I would say!We then proceeded to cleanse our palates with a very fresh and flavourful Watermelon & Basil Sorbet. It was time for the main course to be brought in!The first dish presented to us as main course was Pumpkin Ravioli With Sage & Butter Sauce, a thing of supreme beauty and joy. The little pasta squares were filled with the most delicate, delicious pumpkin stuffing ever, presented in a mildly fragrant sauce. You must definitely try this out – it was the star of the meal for me.We were presented with a decadent Marsala-Scented Risotto With Black Pepper Bread next, another beautifully executed dish. Everything about this dish oozed class and elegance, and the flavours matched right up.Our meal ended with Tiramisu 2.0, a deconstructed version of the classic Italian dessert. As is the custom at Ottimo, the staff fed each of us the first bite of this dessert, which was an explosion of flavours in the mouth! Sheer bliss, this one was.A meal at Ottimo is something I’d hugely recommend. It’s pricey, yes, but the quality and taste of the food, the wonderful service and ambience more than make up for it.
