Your searcg for ethereal and authentic South Indian ends with this venture of the Maiyas! The interiors are simple and seem untouched since 1924, the year it all began. MTR has very minimalistic and homely ambience with sepia toned photos hanging on the wall.Coming to the food, my favorites are the Podi Dosa, the Rava Idli (their invention), the Rava Dosa and Bisi Bele Bath. Most dishes are served with a delightful dollop of ghee. That said, these are gems worth a try!End your meal with a serving of one of the best Gulab Jamuns and Badam milk ever. In case you’re a coffee fanatic, the filter coffee here is served in a silver glass and is 100% pure (zero chicory).Prices may seem slightly higher, but the quantity jolly well makes up for it. All in all, must visit in Namma Bengaluru!
Wanted to come here for a very long time.. food served here was good.. but not all things from the menu are available.. I was given a very limited food option to choose from.. however the food served was delicious. The coffee was just wow. However, my expectations were not fulfilled, maybe because I couldn’t have the set dosa I desired to eat.
Old and legendary, it is bustling in the mornings with a famous in-and-out breakfast crowd. Known for their electric and fast service, filter coffee, dosas, podi, thali etc at very reasonable rates epicurade.com
We visited this outlet at around 10.30 am on a Saturday. The place gets incredibly crowded during the weekends, so it is kind of difficult to find a seat. We ordered a Ghee Masala Dosa and Podi Dosa along with Filter coffees. The food was amazing, but you need to be patient (our order took 20 mins). Later, we also bought Bun Butter Jam at their bakery, thanks to Foodtalkchennai.Overall, this is one place that keeps up the old charm, right from the building to the ambience to the traditionally dressed charm. If you’re in Bangalore, you ought to go to MTR.
Mavalli Tiffin Room located near Urvashi Threatre Lalbagh Road A place where you get authentic south Indian Food. Having Thali over there was so lip smacking and delicious. The Dosa over there was crispier than ever and was also served with a small amount of Ghee which was to be poured above the Dosa. Dosa being one of the staple food of South India It had to be Perfect which it was. Thali was also good we got Puri,Roti,Lemon Rice ,3 varities of Sabzi and Papads after all these we had ordered Fruit Mixture Ice cream to settle down our stomach it was good and amzing the Place is always Crowded so please go there 60 min prior
The Mavalli Tiffin Rooms is one of the most famous restaurant in Bangalore established in 1924. Too crowded on weekends, almost takes an hour for average of 6 people to get a table. But worth the wait. Masala dosa – It is served with chutney, no sambar. There is a green chutney smeared inside which gives it a unique taste. The extra ghee makes it even more delicious. Not only dosas but everything we ordered was just perfect.. Nothing could have been better.Coffee is served in tall silver tumblers which adds a heritage touch. All dishes were freshly made and light on spices, just right to be enjoyed by all age groups. Nice and clean old outlet living up to the expectations of customers.
It is located at Lal Bagh road around Basavanagudi and we tried rava idli it was normal taste what we have in packet mtr ready to cook recipes, the vada was crispy and nice it was great and dosas where ultimate it was super crispy and the green chutney was also quiet great, service could have been fast, when we reached we had to wait outside for 10 minutes but it was worth to go and have dosas.
