Visited this restaurant after many years.Was surprised to see that the look and feel of the place remains the same.A feel-good ambience, amazing service and tasty food.Fresh lime soda was too good.Benne masala was fresh and super crispy.Fried rice and gobi has always been my favourite here.Will definitely visit more frequently now.
Since I was hungry and didn’t know much about Bangalore, the local rickshaw driver suggested that I try this classic cafe for snacks..Ordered some poha like dish, Masala Dosa and Filter Coffee! The poha like dish was good. Was something different than what we have in Maharashtra ofcourse..I was surprised to see a different kind of dosa here! The dosa was orangish and crispy from outside and soft from inside! Really liked this one. Different experience..Lastly ofcourse the filter coffee. Samrat/Chalukya hotel is decades old restaurant considered posh in those days. I have been to the other Samrat restaurant outlet (near Mantri mall) several times with my friends and family and have been waiting to eat at the original one in race course road for years. An urge to eat some good old normal south Indian food led us here for weekdend (late)lunch.Ambiance:-Restaurant has two floors. First floor has AC.-Mostly cleanly maintained and dim lit.Service:-Friendly waiters:)-Took around 10 minutes to get what we ordered.Food:-Dal kichdi: Tasted just like the one I had at the other outlet. Loved it. Tastes even better with raita:)-Masala Dosa: All expectations down the drain as it was too oily.-Vada: Not bad, went well with chutney and sambar.Must try: Dal kichdiFood: 3.5/5Ambiance: 3.5/5Service: 4.5/5QFM: 3.5/5Overall: 3.5/5
