I was invited to try out at Resto pub located inside Ramamurthy Nagar. The Hotel Schack has about 27 rooms and 4th floor is the resto pub (its a part of the hotel)e . They have nicely done interiors with some old advertisement’s posters on the walls. The walls give a rusty feell with red bricks all over. The big windows allow enough light and gives a retro feel. They have a snooker table and a big projector to complete the look. The washroom’s identification was quite unique and creative which were made with cassettes. They have both indoor and the outdoor seating. Since they are from hospitality background, the staffs were really courteous. Mr Harish was one among them. He was with us the whole time, explaining each dish and answering all our questions with a smile. For cocktail we ordered Pirates mix, Basilicum, Margin Ocean and a desert cocktail which was bar special cocktail of the day.All cocktails were amazing and Mr. Gabriel (was our bartender) explained us each one. Go with his suggestions he is great with cocktails.Coming to the food, for starters we were served with half portions of Chicken wings, Chilli Garlic Prawns, Chef Special fish, Pepper mushroom, Paneer malai tikka, Seekh kabab, Angara kabab and Hara bara kabab.Chicken wings was not the regular continental style, this was different and of course tasty. This is a must try here.Chef special fish was good, the fish used was fresh.Pepper mushroom was good but we felt that, salt was little less.Paneer malai tikka -the malai and the spices were good, only thing is we felt that, it should have been marinated for some more time or made thinner slices.Chicken Angara Kabab was really soft and the masala perfeclty blended with chicken this is a must try item. For main course we ordered half portion of guntur chicken with roti, the guntur chicken was excellent, the masala was very delicious. This is also a definite try.For deserts we tried the gulab jamun, which was hot and yummy. We just loved it.Overall this is a must try place. I would recommend you visit in the evening so you can enjoy it with good crowd. I would rate it 3.75/5 foodiegorilla.com
Beautiful ambience, delicious food at decent price and amazing service. This place is a hidden gem in ramamurthynagar, It’s located in ramamurthynagar main road. Went here for birthday dinner. We called them to book a table for birthday, they set up a beautiful birthday table and it was really amazing.Loved the food and drinks as well . Would recommend the spring fever and Shirley temple from the mocktails menu, really refreshing and tasty at the same time.Would totally recommend you to try out the fish Tikka and chicken pepper. It’s one of the best i ever had.Overrall had a really nice experience , also you can visit this place if you want to have a classy and simple birthday celebration at a decent price.
A hidden gem in the fast developing Ramamurthi Nagar, Hotel The Shack, can be best enjoyed with family and friends alike. Wrapped in a rugged vibe, the walls of the resto-pub was covered in bricks and the posters of classic commercial ads from the 70s to late 90s decorated the interiors. The setting at ‘The Shack’ is cosy and has a ‘feel-at-home’ mood. It has both outdoor and indoor seating. We visited this place on a Friday evening to get the weekend started, and I am glad we chose this place. Once we settled down, we asked for a plate of ‘Honey-chilli potato’, the perfect blend of hot and sweet flavours, tantalised out taste buds. We couldn’t stop ourselves from going for a few more bites. Every bite had a slight crunch giving us the perfect start to our meal. The ‘Pudina paneer tikka’ was extremely soft and had a creamy texture to it. The pudina marination was just the perfect amount; it wasn’t overpowering the grilled cottage cheese and the other spices. A chilled mug of beer would be a good match. The smoky flavour of the charcoal grilled ‘Afghani Chicken’, won my heart in the first bite. Unlike the ones I have tried before, this was less spicy. The taste of crushed pepper was distinct, and so were the rich spices and cream. The meat was tender and the taste of crushed pepper was distinct, thanks to the well marinated mix of flavourful spices that enhanced the richness of the dish. We also asked for ‘Hot wings’, to our surprise, it wasn’t the usual continental-style (dipped in barbecue sauce) but had a twist of Chinese flavours. It was, spicy and the meat was tender and juicy on the inside – an appetiser that could go well with their in-house cocktails like the ‘Whiskey sour with a Twist’. While we treated our palate with the chicken wings, we asked for a portion of ‘Dal Makhani’, ‘Methi Murg’, ‘Garlic Naan’ and ‘Jeera rice’, for main course. The ‘Dal Makhani’ was creamy and a little on the heavier side. Though the salt content was a pinch less, the ‘Jeera Rice’ balanced the taste. It wasn’t the best Dal Makhani, I have tasted, but nevertheless, a must try on their menu. The clear winner for main course was the ‘Methi Murg’. The spicy semi-gravy, boneless chicken was full of flavours. The rich taste of fenugreek leaves curry coming through in every bite complemented the soft Garlic Naan and we end our meal on a happy note. Overall, an amazing place to chill with your friends and family. 🙂
This is one place that I discovered recently and am sure going to be a regular here. Away from the hustle bustle , this is in a quieter area at Ramamurthy Nagar. The moment you enter the place, there is a certain positive vibe. They have 27 rooms spread on the lower levels and on the 4th level is the resto pub. It was a restaurant earlier but now they have opened the bar as well. The theme is retro and they have classic old advertisements adorning the walls. Love the brick feel to it. Quite spacious as well. They have an indoor seating as also outdoor / smoking zone. Bar – A special shout to Mr. Gopi for his skills. He is great at the bar. I was down with a cold so he prepared a special hot herbal toddy for me and man I felt great. The taste was excellent and so was the presentation. They offer a great range of cocktails and mocktails.Food – Where do I start? Loved everything we ate and the humongous portion sizes make sure that you are stuffed 🙂 Their tandoor items are their specialty and rightly so.Starters:1. Tandoori Gobi – Soft and well marinated ; this was delicious2. Tandoori Broccoli – Again a great tasting dish ; for people who otherwise don’t eat broccoli, please try it here and you will fall in love with it3. Tandoori Baby Corn – Scrumptious ; perfectly cooked ; it was evenly marinated with the right amount of masala4. Pepper Mushroom – This was crunchy and tasty ; mushroom was cooked to perfection 5. Shanghai style baby corn – This was again a nice starter ; goes very well with the drinks All the starters were appetizing and very well presentedComing to the main course, tried the Chef special vegetable dish which has different types of veggies. This was very delectable. Also tried the Paneer Mirch Masala which was a nice and spicy variant of the Paneer butter masala. Then had the soothing Dal Tadka which was a delight to eat. Had the butter tandoori roti which was soft and great to eat. Also tried the Schezwan Egg Fried Rice which was a perfect tasting Indo Chinese dish.Kudos to the chef for whipping up some great delicacies. We were so full that couldn’t try the desserts but am surely going to go back soon for the same :)Food – AwesomeService – Super quick ; A special mention to Devraj and Mallaya for their serviceHospitality – The staff is courteous and pay a lot of individual attention to each of the customers ; Thank you Mr. Harish (Floor In-charge) for being such a gracious host ; Ambience – Retro and 4 ; loved the open feelOverall – A good place to visit with friends and family 🙂
Hotel The Shack is a hidden gem present in Ramamurthy Nagar. Went to this place to try out the food and the drinks and I was certainly awestruck by their behaviour. Hard to find such hospitality among the hoteliers now a days!Coming to the ambience, this place has a rustic touch to it with amazing lights and seating space. They also have a pool table inside the pub. Furthermore, the bar looks great as well.Coming to the food and the drinks, we liked all the dishes that we were served. The drinks were good but the food was excellent. The dishes which we liked the most are:Afghani ChickenChicken ShorbaPalak PaneerMutton RoganjoshDragon PaneerLastly, the service was fabulous! One of the best that I’ve come across in Bangalore. Kudos to the staff members and the waiters. The only improvement that I’ll suggest is that there should be more number of desserts available in this place.Apart from that, loved the experience here!A MUST VISIT!
I was invited to try out the newly opened Restopub. It’s been over a week since they opened. The essence of a pub is perfectly captured in the ambience. The brick walls, dim lights and a perfectly lit bar counter. The food served here is essentially Indian and Indo-Chinese. Short review: Relaxed laid back ambience, wonderful hospitality, tasty Indian food and cocktails. Long review: We started off with the drinks, where we tried the cosmopolitan, LIIT, single malt and Bira White. I asked the bar manager Mr. Altaf to make my LIIT strong and he really made sure of it. It was one of the strongest I’ve had and tasted amazing. I could taste the vodka, rum and it wasn’t diluted with too much ice or coke. The cocktails and alcohol are strong and sure do pack a punch, just how they are supposed to be. If you want it extra strong, be sure to ask them and you shall receive. In the appetisers, I tried the veg seekh kebab, dragon paneer, aloo nazakhat and onion rings. The seekh kebab needed more spice and salt but the green chutney provided with it was top notch. It had the right balance of sweet and sour with a hint of heat from the green chilli. The aloo nazakhat was mediocre, I couldn’t taste any of the paneer in the stuffing. I loved the dragon paneer. Again, if you like it spicy, make sure to ask them to make it extra spicy. We had asked for extra spicy and it was the perfect amount of spice for us and paired brilliantly with the drinks. The addition of fried peanuts made it even more delectable. The onion rings were crispy, not oily and seasoned perfectly with salt.My friend tried the tandoori chicken, Kalmi Kebab and tava fish fry. Apparently, the tandoori chicken was marvellous. One of the best out there. The kalmi kebab needed more flavour and the fish fry was nice too. Another thing to add that both the kalmi kebab and the fish fry were half portions and I was told that the portion size of the meat was really good. Totally value for money. In the main course we opted for half portions again since we wanted to try out as many dishes as possible. I tried the paneer makhni, south style egg curry, veg biryani along with the garlic naan. My friend tried the butter chicken, Guntur chicken and the chicken biryani with garlic naan. The egg curry was piquant and delicious. It was a Chettinad style base and tasted great with the naan. The paneer was soft, tender and coated in a rich and creamy gravy. My friend said that the non veg gravies were good too. The only issue was that both the biryanis according to us tasted more like pulao. It didn’t have the “dum” flavour. For dessert we tried the brownie with vanilla ice cream, along with chocolate ice cream, pistachio ice cream and butterscotch ice cream. The brownie was quite dry and too sweet for our liking. A special mention to Mr. Altaf (Bar Manager), Mr. Harish (Floor Manager) and Mr. Parvez who served us. The hospitality was excellent. Everyone were courteous and took all our suggestions with humility. Another thing I noticed was that the servers are very well trained. Everytime we finished a dish, they would immediately come and clear it. And they asked us if we wanted change of plates multiple times during the service. If you get bored, you can also play a game of snooker.Food- 4/5Ambience- 4/5Service- 4.5/5VFM- 4/5
Recent Update: Recently went to this place last week and it has sadly become very bad. We ordered the same thing we got last time, the curry was watery like a soup and that disappointed me the most as I appreciated it so much before. There was a mix with our waiter for the order for which we had to wait. The biryani didnt taste as good anymore either. I dont think I’ll be visiting here ever again!5months back:Loved the hospitality by the staff, and the ambience was very soothing, not too loud! The taste of food was really good, so a big thumbs up for that! Loved the chicken lababdar curry. A definite recommend if you want to try out some good food.
