Ambience – 3/5 Food – 3/5 Service – 4/5 VFM – 3.5/5 Parking – YesSanthrupthi is an Andhra style restaurant at Jigani crossing. Decor is decent and waiters were cheerful. We started with the Cream of mushroom soup and Egg Ghee Roast. The waitress was quite disappointed with our choice of soup and said that’s only for the foreigners who sometimes drop by, as its not spicy at all. But she was Happy we ordered the Ghee Roast. The soup was actually made very well, creamy and mildly flavoured with a lot of finely pureed mushrooms in it. The Egg Ghee roast was another story though. Couldn’t make out any other taste except for Red chilli. Eggs coated with some dough were sauteed in a lot of heavily spiced oil. The chilly completely masked any other taste in the dish.We then decided to mix up the main course as i didn’t want to end up with stomach ulcers, and ordered Navratan Korma and Kolhapuri daal along with Garlic naan and tandoori roties. The waitress again showed her dismay on our choice of the ‘sweet’ Navratan Korma. But i was glad i did, as the Kolhapuri daal was again overloaded with chilly, green ones this time. There was absolutely no other taste except pungent in the daal. The Navratan Korma was again very good with their ‘sweet’ translating to ‘balanced spice’ for me.Now I have quite a good tolerance for pungent with Kolhapuri thencha being one of my favourites, but daal that makes the eyes water is not to my likingThe roti and naan were very well made, though, no complaints. Not sure I’ll be visiting back in a hurry.
