My first footstep in Ernakulam and as I get out of the station my eyes were on the hunt for a proper place to have my brekkie. This place is located just opposite to the station and I was pulled inside their place by the aroma. The place looks like any other ordinary restaurant with limited seating and the sounds of the plates moving around tables.Went after a plate of Appam with Kadala curry for the first round. It was hot, soft and fluffy all around; the curry made a better pair than the chutneys for the dish.Next up was Puttu with curry; typical Keralan staple food, rich and went well with the dry beans. We also went after the Masala dosa to fill our tummies. All the dishes were completely S.Indian and the price too was rational. To sign off the meal was the Chai which tasted completely different (yet had the Kerala signature kick in it).
Went there late in the evening on the way to the railway station. Great food at a very low price. An excellent choice for those looking at vegetarian cuisine at very low price.
I had a train from kochi last night. Picked up a take away from here. Loved the food. Idlis were soft and dosa was crispy with a lot of chutney and sambar. Pricing can’t be lower than what he has, makes me wonder what does he earn. A must go, specially for travellers.
