The food was delicious, but the variety of food was too little to none. The lack of variety was not in the grills but it went on to the main course and dessert section as well.

Food is cooked to perfection here, the barbecue pork is just to die for, we also tried sushi here and definitely super good. The ambience is calm and serene, nice place to have a dinner and some conversations.

Sian restaurant in The gateway hotel is a unique south asian dining experience available in kochi. I really loved my last visit to Sian a few weeks ago . The dining experience was made fabulous thanks to Taj management for giving importance to even smaller details right from sourcing raw materials to training the staff to welcome guests . Crew members of Sian are very polished and caring. The most touching experience with Taj staff were when one Mr Saju in service section who helped me to choose dishes understanding my allergy to prawns. Taj really does a good job in empathising with people like me who have got food allergies to specific ingredients n helping us avoid allergies while being in your hotel.Thank you

One of the best options for authentic Chinese and Thai food. Very good service and ambience. One of the best places for fine dining or a special occasion.

One of the best places to taste the Chinese Japanese cuisine, but the reason why the taj Sian gets a 5 star is because of the brilliant ambiance

One of my fav in kochi for Asian food. Great place for a peaceful night out with great food. My order typically reads Tom yum soup, chicken m chives dim sum, Ebi tempura/ Ebi tempura maki and a dessert (tub Tim krob usually but I prefer the one they serve at the Thai pavilion in Vivanta) the five spice flavoured choc fondant is also yummy. Sian has the most courteous staff and they are very child friendly. They had run out of kids chopsticks and made a temp one for my daughter with rubber bands (scores high on mommymeter)

Seldom have I had the pleasure of eating authentic Asian food in India. ITC Pan Asian and Mainland China are the only ones that came close to the experience that I had. But the experience of dining at Sian restaurant at the Taj Gateway Marine Drive in Ernakulam is something else.Brightly lit with spacious interiors this place is a welcome experience for everyone who wishes to either have a quiet dinner with family or have a family event or a friends get together. The kimchi and pickle are served individually and that’s a marked difference from other restaurants that I have previously dined in. Their menu has Chinese, Japanese as well as Thai infusions of flavors and each dish delivers the subtle yet great taste that you expect from it. The lemon coriander soup with burnt garlic was fantastic in it’s mild taste but excellent flavors. The vegetable dim sum with its sweet, sour and spicy sauce accompaniments was a great start to the meal.We then ordered for the burnt garlic fried rice as well as the buck wheat noodles which both were winners by themselves. While the rice had that stickiness and buttery flavor, the garlic gave an flavor infusion without overpowering the other accompaniment in the dish. The buck wheat noodles tasted great with just a hint of the spice sauce and a dash of soy.But the dish of the day for us was the veg sushi order. Each sushi roll had its uniquely flavored overtures. The rice on the outside was just cooked enough so you could feel the bit of the rice and it also held up its shape. The wasabi dip then did the trick of adding a burst of flavor and then you could taste the fresh cool cucumber and asparagus in the center lending a complete flavorful experience. We did not order dessert not because of anything but because of the fact that we were so completely satiated by the authentic flavors that we wanted them to linger on for a while!
