A cheap option for oonu, Aahar has nothing ‘global’ about it, but everything naadan! You can have a decent oonu at Rs 50 for a vegetarian fare. You can choose from the non-veg platter from the array of fish dishes and chicken and mutton. However, the service staff need to be more friendly.
This is a foodie paradise. We were intending to go to another place but saw this place bursting with action at 11.00 pm and thought let’s give it a try. There were only some items of puttu available the owner who also sits as cashier explained each puttu in detail. We got 3 varieties – biryani puttu , erachi puttu and Burji puttu each of them were just excellent. I really liked the place. The owner really is a great host and even explained to us proudly they don’t have a fridge. He further went onto explain that it’s a design principle and they try to make it that way.He also explained the dishes that are instant hit at the restaurant and that too at 11 in the night.
I have been here for my lunch so many times. Happy to ate on banana leaf and the curries served are tasty and nice. They says they don’t have refrigerator there. So the food must be fresh . The special menus are excellent but seems little pricey compares to other in same category. One can have a relaxed meal here even in the middle of the city. Total ambiance is nice as there are wooden tables and chairs. The most important thing I feel is the excellent and fast service there by the North Indian Guys. Hats off and thank you!
The traditional Malayali Oonu complete with three side dishes+ Sambar+ Papadam+Pullusherry +Pachha Moru served steaming hot in a Vazha illa at a reasonable Rs. 50 (yes, unlimited supply, before you ask).Lunch is about the special fish dishes; the shaapu kari, vala kari, Meen Piralan is to die for. While dinner is all about meat. ( try the Biriyani puttu)The rush hour is between 12 and 2 in the afternoon. Giving it a miss means losing out on the special dishes of the day. But to compensate, enjoy some brilliant conversations with the two big men and one lanky man who run the place. They Strictly adhere to the no- fridge, no – freezer policy and the results show with the consistency in quality of food. I strongly recommend the place for anyone with a Malayali palate.
Great place. Located right on NH 47. If you’re driving a long way, stop here eat good food and relax. Service is good and staff’s are polite. Try Fish Shappe curry. Moreover value deal for a place like Kochi.
For 50 rupees you get a very decent meal+the taste is also good when we compare with the similar hotel in the same category. Go for it
