Dinner with the family in house as we spent a night in Cochin and we were too tired to explore the city. Never had traditional Kerala cuisine presented as fine dining.Well we can start with the kids. There wasn’t anything in the menu they liked and our server readily took an order for fish fingers, chicken popcorn and tomato penne pasta. The portions were huge and food was yummy. So off to a good start.With the recommendation of our server we went with neimeen Kalil porichathu to start which was seerfish delicately cooked with red masala. Yummy!The mains was Alleppey Prawn Curry and a lamb dish. The prawn curry was possible the best keralite curry I have ever mopped up with an appam. So much so I had to ask for the recipe. The engaging and involved Chef Saji was happy to share it as well. Through the course of the dinner several staff passed by and had a good conversation with us. Not your typical barging into a conversation and asking if everything is ok and disappearing. Refreshing!After a week of eating Kerala food at restaurants and home to then eat it at a 5 star hotel could be concerning because of the price. But if you keep in mind the overall experience, the great staff, wonderful chef and tasty food it’s well worth it. Definitely a place to revisit for us.

We were suggested this place by a friend, but we had our doubts. We were of the belief that the only place you get authentic local food is those tiny roadside places. We were so, so wrong! Cassava offers The curries were perfection, with a Malabar parotta to die for. Don’t miss out.
Good food and great company are two pre-requisites for a wonderful evening. While the latter is in your control, the former needs to be experienced ! Had tonnes of both today at the Cassava. Awesome food and wonderful company. All the dishes that we tried were made to perfection and were just right. The fish pollchathu, the prawns and the chicken were just great. Served with malabari parathas, pathiri and appam. The dessert vatalapam was delicate with a fine balance of jaggery and rice. Served along with pineapple, that was the perfect ending to a fabulous evening. Must visit for a wonderful experience of Kerala food. Thank you Chef and the rest of the restaurant team for a fabulous evening !
