If you want to see happy Maharashtrians , this is the place. Although we indulged in their south indian fare, the thali was scrumptious. Just the place for a humble meal. Fuss free.

Excellent South Indian especially sambhar that is not sweet, lassi, dosa, rasam wada, idli & medu wada. Very quick service and reasonably priced. Misal pav was spicy for my taste but good.

Swagath is a very old South Indian restaurant situated in the Fort Area, known for their thalis, misal and few breakfast items. I had heard rave reviews of the place from a distant relative (not from Mumbai) who had eaten at Swagath on her visit here and hence, decided to give it a try. Coincidently, I’ve had around 2-3 meals at Swagath in the last few months, not because I found it amazingly good but mainly because the circumstances demanded so.The first time we went there was during lunch time, when only thalis were available and just some random snacks like Idlis. The other time I visited was around breakfast time (around 9-9.30 a.m.) had to leave disappointed as dosas weren’t available then; just some listed few items. Recently, went there for some snacks and tried their famed Misal and some special form of dosa, both of which were good, though nothing that great.Overall, the food at Swagath is simple, nice and quite value for money. However, there’s Lalit just round the corner with little more variety and of course, there’s Matunga, the heaven for South Indian food and filter coffee. Don’t draw comparisons and Swagath shall feel wonderful for what it offers!

Swagath is a very old establishment in Fort which is known for its consistent offerings. It’s a relatively small place which doesn’t fit into any geometrical definition but yet they have about 10 tables.I had heard that they serve a very nice MISAL [INR 56] but I was disappointed by what was served to me. Assortment of lentils like white peas, whole gram, moth beans were served with a red, mild gravy with topping of farsan. It was decent, did it’s job of satisfying hunger pangs but nothing to rave about or even recommend it.Also tried their UPMA [INR 56] which was very nice. The reason for which people queue up outside is that they offer consistency in taste & warmth in service which attracts customers here.

Nothing extraordinary to be expected from this place, a regular with the office goers nearby. A decent place with decent food, taste and rate. Next time surely will try thali, liked their Payasam. Nothing much to write but u in and around place can hop for a snacks or lunch if looking for something decent and regular things.

Good food at good rates, one of the best pocket friendly places at Fort. Neat and clean, quick service and great experience. Tasty and simple food.
