Was chilling around @ hill road Bandra with my friends and the vibrant yellow exteriors caught out attention and to our surprise it was cute little restaurant named curry tales. So we went ahead to explore some lip smacking south indian dishesWe ordered for some prawn reachado which was very well made. On a Spicer side but loved it.Chicken curry with appam was a perfect combination. Not overly spiced.Ended our meal with seviyan which was topped with pomegranate that enhanced the flavour of this sweet. We enjoyed our meal.
Bandra has always been my favorite when it comes to food and drinks. My recent visit to Curry Tales did not disappoint me either. The place quiet a vibrant entry which certainly gives you positive vibes. The ambiance inside is simple and sober and gives a calm feeling. Ordered the special veg thali and absolutely loved it. Completely value for money with the number of items they serve. From Papad, salad, starter (ghee roasted sukha Mushroom), sambhar, lal patki bhaaji, payasam, raita, dal, brown Rice and dosa. Absolutely loved the food, the service and the vibes of the place

The place has a nice soothing ambiance. It’s simple with a modern indo vibe. It has a very simple vibe. We enjoyed both the starters the Paneer Fry as well as ghee roast potato. The ghee roast potato is a must have for someone who just loves potatoes. It’s absolutely yummy and rich in flavour. Wouldn’t recommend it for non potato lovers. Vegetable stew was a good combination with ghee rice as well as appum. So was the Pumpkin Errisheri. We were quite full with these dishes but we’re so glad we still chose to try their desserts. Must say both the desserts were just mind blowing. Although both sevaiya with Pomegranate was absolutely lovely, my personal favourite was definitely the Paalpayasam with jaggaried sugar. What we tried – Paneer Fry – Ghee Roast Potato – vegetable stew – ghee rice – Pumpkin Errisheri – appum – sevaiya with Pomegranate – paalpayasam with Jaggaried coconut .
Curry Tales located in Hill road is one of the only restaurant thats providing south indian cuisine featuring dishes along the western coast. There are dishes starting from Maharshtra all the way to Kerala. Chef Sandeep has curated an amazing menu that’s elaborate and exciting. The place is spacious and has wooden tables with nice comfortable seating. We were being served by Mr. Mallesh who was courteous. The service was decently quick. Now coming to the drinks we had, we tried the lemon soda which was decent. We also tried the Sol kadi at the end which was nice and a good way to end the meal. The appetizers we tried were White Pomfret Dry Fry. This one was shallow fried in coconut oil with some curry leaves. Nice dish overall but the marination could be spicy as per the region specified. Rate it 4/5Then i had a Surmai Pollichadu which was Surmai cooked inside a banana leaf with onions and tomatoes marinated with spices. Nice dish. Liked the taste and the way the fish was perfectly cooked. Rate it 4.5/5For main course we had a Chicken Varatharachadu which is a Kerala speciality and is made of roasted coconut and then grinded into a paste. But i couldn’t taste the roasted coconut. Also it was made with pepper. Traditionally there is no potato added in this gravy but here they added potatoes. So what i feel is they have experimented with the dishes. Anyways the chicken was cooked perfectly and the gravy was very tasty. Rate it 4.5/5Next i had the Maharashtrian Mutton curry. This was insanely good curry. Loved the tomato and onion gravy. The mutton was cooked perfectly. Well spiced and every thing blended well. Rate it 5/5The porottas were super flaky and very well made. These are freshly made and tasted amazing. We also had appam which again was perfectly made. Thick in the centre and crisp on the ends. It’s a touch sweet and that’s how it should be. Rate both these a perfect 5/5Also had the brown rice which is a traditional thick grain rice found in Kerala. Loved this rice and went very well with both the gravies. Rate it 5/5Lastly we had the desserts which were Paalpayasam with Jaggried coconut which is rice cooked in milk and coconut with jaggery that’s added with the roasted coconut. Perfectly made however i felt the regular sugar in the milk and the jaggery together wasn’t perfect combination. Still tasty and authentic. Rate it 4.5/5Last dish we tried was the Seviya with Pomegranate. Ideally it should be named Seviya Paayasam to avoid confusion regarding the dish. This is a Paayasam which has Seviya and there is some vanilla flavour and the pomegranate topped for texture. It tasted bright due to the vanilla. I liked this very much. Traditional flavours of Kerala. Rate it 5/5Overall i had a great time at Curry Tales and the food is tasty. It’s pretty much authentic and has some traditional dishes which make it really exciting. I loved the food and would recommend this place for South Indian cuisine especially non vegetarians.Till then Bon Appetit!!
This is the best place for South Indian and Goan food. The ambience of this place is very decent. Yesterday I visited this place with my friends. The staff was polite.WHAT WE TRIED 1)Special sea food thali2)Chicken ghee roast 3)Squid fry4)Prawn reachado5)Crab masalThe crab masala was very good in taste. The crab was perfectly cooked. The taste was amazing. The special sea food consisted of three different types of fish curry with some steam rice . Squid fry was my favourite.Overall curry tales is a good place to visit with friends and family.
