Expecting an authentic Thai experience, we were ushered though a curtained doorway revealing some nightclub theme bar cum dining room from the 80’s. We headed upstairs to be seated in a very sparsely decorated area and presented with an surprisingly limited menu. What we ordered1.Tom yum goong – very flavorful2. Tom kha goong – very disappointing. We had to ask the server to take it back as it had no flavour and tasted like a a bowl of bad khadi. Sour and no salt. It was returned slightly more seasoned but not at all up to the mark.3.herbal chicken balls-very juicy and crispy.4.mango salad-extremely fresh with a lovely dressing. Very nice indeed.5.fried jasmine rice with herbs-utter disappointment. Nothing like any fried rice we’ve tasted in Thailand. No flavor. It was a mix of some jasmine rice and a nutty black rice tossed with some herbs. This was also sent back and came back slightly more seasoned but was still very disappointing.6. Chilean sea bass in a sweet chilli dressing-this dish was the biggest disappointment of all. We were presented with a large bowl with exactly 4 bite size pieces of dry frozen fish in a very sweet sauce. For 2395 rs!!!! Totally Unacceptable.7. Deserts- the highlight of any Thai meal for us is always the sticky coconut rice with mango. Surprisingly, they were out of mangoes in spite of us being the first diners of the evening. So we settled for the jasmine ice-cream and the chocolate coconut. Again huge disappointment. These were the only photos we remembered to take!Verdict – So out of 8 dishes that were ordered, only 3 were good. The staff were courteous, service was very efficient and polite. But if you are looking for good Thai food, Pali Thai is certainly not up to the mark.
I loved the food and the restaurant it was a bit expensive but the food was amazing I am so sad that they shut down . I tried calling them they didn’t answer so I called pali Bhavna and they told me that they are shut forever
Went recently – found it fairly full, we were glad we’d made reservations. We ordered the following:Prawn Spring Rolls (yummy)Phad Thai Noodles with chickenGreen Thai curry with Jasmine Rice For dessert we had a Coconut Milk based Chocolate dessert. We enjoyed a Sauvignon Blanc and a Whisky Sour with our meal. The food was good so was the service. The portions are decent. The décor is sophisticated (not overly Thai) and attracts a sophisticated crowd. The bar was full when we were leaving. It’s a 2 level space, with a bar and a couple of tables downstairs and more tables upstairs. I like the fact that the tables are spread out.
I had a very very quick meal of Chicken Thai Curry (Red) and Jasmine Rice. Absolutely loved the curry flavours. Definitely going to make another trip to try more stuff off their menu.
Highly disappointing and completely dissatisfied. My assumption of Pali Thai was a high end authentic Thai food restaurant couldn’t be more wrong. The place has amazing interiors, that’s where it all ends. The food was so bad, and when you paying that kind of money for food- you should expect much much more than what they offer sub standard – non creative – balanceless food. (And I love Thai cuisine) One of their dish was so bad – turnip cake – they had put so much xanthan (chemical for texture) it had become as hard as a rock- I think its gonna take 6-7 days to digest. They only good thing was the prawn spring roll. Ordered for a sangria – HORRIBLE. Super sweet, bad recipe. I don’t know what they are thinking! People in Bandra don’t mind paying that kind of money to have a unique experience. But Pali Thai is nothing but a disaster. After paying a hefty bill amount- we were asked by the servers to leave as they wanted to go home at 12:15am. (Friday night- restaurant is empty) Super bad time! Wish I had never made the decision to go there 🙁

After the long wait for opening disappointing. Served the wrong curry, when it arrived was bland and nothing in it, service was ultra quick as though they knew us a couple for chilled dinner could not wait to leave the loud mouth group sitting next to us. The interior could be anywhere, step one foot next door into Pali Bhavan and you are into a place with life and ambiance. Love the other Pali experiences but this is missing the magic
