Located between Hill road market and linking road market is one of the best road side restaurant for regular Chinese dishes. Taste is nice and quantity is more than sufficient for two. Ambience is nice and small eatery will 30 sitting arrangement. Must visit. If you are a Chinese lover you would enjoy the food. Quantity is good and pocket friendly!

With some time on hand and being in the vicinity of the Stomach Restaurant, I decided to do a quick supper. This eatery has been around for the longest and is known for its no/frills, honest to God food. The patrons here are die-hard followers, who religiously troop in every day the place is open for business. It’s been so long since I have been here, so it was an opportune moment to refresh my memory. The place is space-constrained as are all such places. Within the corridor type space, there are two ‘sections’. The street facing area is like an al fresco area and the inner section is air conditioned. The two sections are separated by a glass sliding door. The seating areas are identically configured. My first impression was that the eatery is modestly appointed and is purely functional and acceptable. A thumbs up would be appropriate, in the circumstance.Having the menu in hand, I went about planfully, towards a Thai theme- a Tom Yum Soup and a Thai Pot Noodles. After minutes of internal deliberations, the wait person came back with a negative response. I suppose the chef who does the Thai dishes was not in attendance. So, I quickly shifted gears and decided to go the Chinese route. The waitperson was kind enough to offer up a Chicken Manchow Soup. Now to the barely initiated foodie, Manchow is a completely fabricated Chinese (Indo/Chinese, to be precise) Soup. I went for the safe bet and ordered the Sweet Corn Chicken Soup. Then after scouring the menu located and ordered the Kung Pao Chicken. My beverage, the salted fresh lime soda or my second preference, an Iced Tea were also not available. The Sweet Corn Chicken was served shortly. It had the right proportion of the key ingredients: shredded chicken, corn kernels and egg. I quite enjoyed the soup. Just as I was done with the soup, the Kung Pao Chicken was served. The dish was very different from what I had expected. The dish had batter fried chicken, a chilli based sauce and pieces of dried red chillies. What I had expected was a lightly stir-fried chicken, peanuts, vegetables, and chili peppers. The peanuts and veggies were a no show. The overwhelming chilli paste sauce and the chopped dry chillies dominated the flavor. No, the Kung Pao Chicken did not pass muster. Just for the Sweet Corn Chicken Soup, food gets a bare passing grade. Since I was in chilli hell, I requested a caramel custard to soothe my palate. Again, not available.Service was lacklustre. I have deliberately separated the unavailability factor from the service level. Even after keeping it out, service failed to impress. For an establishment that has been around so long, one would expect a lot more. For all those reasons, service also barely makes passing grade. My experience at the Stomach fell way short of my expectations on all counts. The counter argument that is typically made in such instances is the Value For Money; in today’s age of highly informed customers and demanding ones at that, that VFM argument will not hold water. Not sure if it’s complacency or the continuing and assured patronage of loyal customers that has got Stomach to where it is. Keeping aside the emotional factor resulting from the unavailability of the five items I asked for, I will, grudgingly, give Stomach a 3. If I were to allow my EQ to affect me, the rating could have been lower. I really hope that Stomach will regain its old glory; I will be waiting.

I was a fan of this place and their Hunan chicken . Looks like there has been alot of changes internally. The food doesn’t taste as it used to . There is no essence of chinese in any of the dishes . Also the manager and the staff doesn’t behave decent and aren’t welcoming . In the last few years my views towards this place has changed drastically and I’m never getting to this place again
