Khandeshi Darbar (Baner): One of the places with an authentic Khandeshi cuisine and amazing taste.Khandeshi Darbar is a small cozy place in Baner, right at the corner of the road going towards Balewadi high street. We went for dinner there, and believe me our search for a Khandeshi place ended today. It is a small no frills resto serving authentic Khandeshi cuisine with a limited menu, but whatever we tried we really liked it.For starters we ordered Chicken Latpat, it is a semi dry chicken starter with amazing gravy. Infact the masala and the chicken were so good that we could have had just that along with Bhakris. The chicken was nicely prepared but the masala took the crown for us.For main course we got the home favourite Chicken masala, which was spicy and not just chilly (as many places prepare), the chicken was well cooked and soft. The gravy in itself stood out, our gravy was finished before the chicken, it was that good. I wanted to try ou the rice with that gravy but sadly was way too full after the bhakris.Along with the chicken masala we ordered Bhakris, which were hot and soft and landed on our plates freshly made right from the stove.Upon our request they also served us a bowl of Kala Masala gravy which is a recent addition to the menu, one of the best kala masala gravies I have ever had. You can get the smoky flavour right from the first sip it was perfectly balanced and the smokiness was not overpowering the rest of the spices.Solkadhi made a perfect end for the dinner.
